An electric drive unit includes a housing, a motor, a sleeve, first and second seals, and a bearing. The housing defines gearbox and motor housing regions, and first and second channels extending between the gearbox and motor housing regions. The motor is disposed within the motor housing region and has a rotor and a rotor shaft that is rotationally driven about an axis. The sleeve extends circumferentially along an exterior surface of the rotor shaft and has an inner surface that interfaces with the exterior surface, and an outer surface opposite the inner surface. The first seal extends between the outer surface of the sleeve and the housing. The second seal extends between the inner surface of the sleeve and the exterior surface of the rotor shaft. The bearing is positioned radially between the rotor shaft and the housing and axially between the first seal and the gearbox region.

A method of manufacturing a stator carrier includes the step of fashioning a stator carrier body that includes a side wall that extends circumferentially about a hollow. The side wall has an interior surface that defines the hollow and an exterior surface opposite the interior surface. The method of manufacturing the stator carrier further includes the step of, subsequently, providing a fin on the exterior surface of the side wall of the stator carrier body. The fin is coupled to the exterior surface of the side wall and extends axially and circumferentially along the exterior surface of the of the side wall in a winding fashion.

An electric drive unit includes an electric motor having a rotor shaft that defines a hollow that is accessible via an opening defined at an axial end of the rotor shaft. The hollow defines a portion of a fluid flow path. The electric drive unit also includes an output shaft that extends into the hollow through the opening. The electric drive unit further includes a baffle that extends into the hollow through the opening. The baffle is arranged to redirect fluid flowing along the fluid flow path away from a portion of at least one of the rotor shaft and the output shaft.

An electric drive unit includes an electric motor and a housing that houses the electric motor. The housing includes a heat exchanging wall portion that includes an inner surface that defines a fluid jacket cavity for conveying a first fluid and an outer surface that is opposite the inner surface and that defines a fluid chamber for conveying a second fluid. The heat is transferred between the first and second fluids through the heat exchanging wall portion.

An electric drive unit includes: a motor that rotates a rotor shaft; a housing with a bearing shield extending between motor housing and gearbox regions, the bearing shield having a first side that faces toward the motor housing region and a second side that partially defines the gearbox region and along which a channel extends; a planetary gearset including a sun gear, planet gears, and a carrier; and a wiper coupled to the housing proximate to the channel and abutting the carrier, such that fluid is wiped off of the carrier by the wiper as the carrier rotates and flows to the channel therefrom.

A hybrid module shaft assembly includes a rotational axis, a housing with a tubular portion, a shaft extending through the tubular portion, a first seal, a first ball bearing, and a plain bearing. The tubular portion has a first distal end arranged on an engine side of the housing, and a second distal end arranged on a transmission side of the housing. The first seal is arranged to seal the shaft to the first distal end, and the first ball bearing is disposed on the engine side adjacent to the first seal to position the shaft in the tubular portion. The plain bearing is arranged at the second distal end to position the shaft.

A torque converter includes a front cover, an impeller, a turbine, a lock-up clutch, and a damper assembly. The front cover is arranged to receive a torque. The impeller has an impeller shell non-rotatably connected to the cover. The turbine is in fluid communication with the impeller and includes a turbine shell. The lock-up clutch includes a clutch plate. The damper assembly includes a spring and a cover plate supporting the spring. The cover plate includes a spring window configured to receive the spring, and a plurality of tabs extending from a radial side of the spring window towards the front cover. The plurality of tabs are configured to drivingly connect to the clutch plate.

A torque converter assembly is disclosed herein. The assembly can include a torque converter cover having a first axially extending flange, a reaction plate having a second axially extending flange, and a torque converter pump having a third axially extending flange. The first axially extending flange, the second axially extending flange, and the third axially extending flange are connected to each other via a single connection. In one aspect, the single connection comprises a weld.

A torque converter comprising a front cover, an impeller having an impeller shell connected to the front cover, a turbine having a turbine shell and at least one blade attached thereto, and a lock-up clutch configured to selectively couple the turbine shell to the impeller shell for torque transmission therebetween is provided. In embodiments, the lock-up clutch comprises a clutch plate connected to the turbine shell and extending radially outward therefrom. The clutch plate may include a first end, a second end, and a slot defined between the first and the second ends. The lock-up clutch further may include a piston connected to the front cover, and a piston actuation plate connected to the piston, wherein the piston is configured to actuate the piston actuation plate to close the lock-up clutch to connect the turbine shell to the impeller shell.

A torque converter comprising a cover arranged to receive torque, an impeller having an impeller shell non-rotatably connected to the cover, and a turbine in fluid communication with the impeller and including a turbine shell is provided. In embodiments, the torque converter includes a lock-up clutch including a piston plate, an output hub connected to the turbine shell and arranged to non-rotatably connect to a transmission input shaft, and a seal plate disposed, at least partially, axially between the piston plate and the turbine shell. A connector is arranged to connect the cover, the piston plate and the seal plate to each other, wherein a first chamber is formed at least in part by the piston plate and the seal plate and a second chamber is formed at least in part by the cover, the seal plate, and the piston plate.

A centrifugal pendulum absorber, including: a first pendulum mass; a second pendulum mass; a center plate axially located between the first pendulum mass and the second pendulum mass, connected to the first pendulum mass and the second pendulum mass, and arranged to receive rotational torque; a first resilient bumper axially located between the first pendulum mass and the second pendulum mass, and connected to the first pendulum mass and the second pendulum mass; and a first radial travel stop connected to the first pendulum mass or to the second pendulum mass, located radially outward of the first resilient bumper, radially aligned with at least a portion of the first resilient bumper, and free of contact with the first resilient bumper when the centrifugal pendulum absorber is at rest.

A hybrid module for a hybrid vehicle is disclosed. The hybrid module has two clutches located radially inward of an electric motor, and in their own respective fluid chamber. Fluid from one chamber can cool one of the clutches. Then the fluid can travel axially to the other chamber to cool the other clutch. The hybrid module can include a wall assembly between the two clutches, separating the fluid chambers. After the fluid cools both clutches, the fluid is directed to the wall assembly, and passes through two walls, radially outwardly, to spray onto the electric motor to cool the motor.

A hybrid module configured for arrangement in a torque path upstream from a transmission and downstream from an internal combustion engine includes an electric motor including a rotor and a stator for driving the rotor, a torque converter downstream of the electric motor, and a rotor input clutch including a piston and at least one clutch plate. The piston is configured for being pressed in a first axial direction into the at least one clutch plate via a pressure increase of fluid in an apply chamber. The hybrid module also includes a compensation chamber assembly. The compensation chamber assembly and the piston define a compensation chamber radially offset from the apply chamber. The compensation chamber assembly is configured for applying a force on the piston in a second axial direction opposite the first axial direction via a pressure increase of fluid in the compensation chamber.

A torque converter comprises a cover arranged to receive torque, an impeller including an impeller shell fixed to the cover, and a turbine fluidly coupled to the impeller. A lock-up clutch is provided that includes a dam plate non-rotatably connected to the cover, and a piston plate disposed, at least partially, between the cover and the dam plate. A fluid diversion plate is disposed between the dam plate and the turbine, wherein the dam plate is connected to the piston plate on a first axial side and connected to the fluid diversion plate on a second axial side, opposite the first axial side.

A torque converter comprises a front cover, an impeller having an impeller shell fixed to the front cover, and a turbine fluidly coupled with the impeller and having a turbine shell. A damper assembly is provided that includes an output flange connected to the turbine shell. A clutch assembly is disposed between the front cover and the turbine. The clutch assembly comprises a piston sealed to the front cover at an outer diameter thereof and a clutch flow deflector plate disposed axially between the piston and the output flange, wherein the clutch flow deflector plate is configured to direct a cooling fluid to the clutch assembly.
