A helmet may include a shell defining a cavity to receive a user's head. The shell may include a shell outer surface and a receiving area recessed into the shell outer surface. A liner may be within the cavity and coupled to the shell. A facemask may be coupled to the shell. A front bumper may be coupled to the shell and the liner. The front bumper may extend from within the cavity to an exterior of the shell. The front bumper may be positioned at least partially within the receiving area of the shell.

An exoskeleton system having an actuator unit configured to be coupled to a leg of a user. The actuator unit includes an upper arm and a lower arm that are rotatably coupled via a joint, the joint positioned at a knee of the user with the upper arm coupled about an upper leg portion of the user above the knee and with the lower arm coupled about a lower leg portion of the user below the knee; a fluidic actuator that extends between the upper arm and lower arm; and one or more fluid lines coupled to the fluidic actuator to introduce fluid to the fluidic actuator that causes force to be applied to the upper arm and lower arm.

A method of operating an exoskeleton system that includes obtaining a first set of sensor data from one or more sensors associated with one or more leg actuator units of an exoskeleton system during a user activity, the first set of sensor data indicating a first configuration state of the one or more actuator units; determining, based at least in part on the first set of obtained sensor data, to change configuration of the one or more leg actuator units to a second configuration state to support a user during the user activity; and introducing fluid to one or more fluidic actuators of the one or more leg actuator units to generate the second configuration state by causing the one or more fluidic actuators to apply force at the one or more actuator units.

Locking, dampening and actuation systems and methods for solar trackers

A catering box with active climate control is configured to transport 'delicate' foods, such as grilled cheese sandwiches, hot dogs, and hamburgers, without inducing substantial sogginess in the bread of those food items. The catering box includes a heat mass configured to retain heat generated by a hot plate and to then radiate that heat, during transport, after the hot plate has been disconnected from a power source. In addition, the catering box includes an exhaust fan that actively controls internal specific humidity levels in order to prevent moisture from settling within the bread of stored food items. A microcontroller within the catering box monitors temperature and absolute humidity levels, computes the current specific humidity level, and then selectively engages or disengages the exhaust fan in response. With his approach, the catering box may limit the degree to which humidity settles within the bread of delicate food items stored within.

A fluidic exoskeleton system. The system can include one or more fluidic actuator units that have: a joint; a first and second arm coupled to the joint; an inflatable bellows actuator extending between a first and second plate associated with the joint, the inflatable bellows actuator defining a bellows cavity, the inflatable bellows actuator configured to extend along a length of the bellows actuator when inflated by introducing fluid into the bellows cavity; and one or more constraint ribs extending from the joint and surrounding portions of the bellows actuator along the length of the bellows actuator.

A shock absorber includes a bottom rim, a top wall comprising a raised central portion and a top rim, a side wall extending between the top and bottom rims, and a corrugation surrounding a periphery of the raised central portion that (i) connects the raised central portion to the top rim, (ii) descends to a depth below half a height of the side wall, and (iii) is separated by a distance from a surface. Impact forces imparted on the shock absorber are attenuated by a first amount in a first stage by resistive yielding of the side wall; by a second amount in a second stage by depression of the central portion and resistive yielding of the corrugation associated therewith; and by a third amount in a third stage by resistive yielding of the corrugation in response to a force applied to the top rim upon contact with the surface.

Shock absorbers for protective body gear

A cap for a reusable bottle and a compound-containing container is provided. The container is a separate, replaceable structure with a base (well/bowl) section containing the compound and a hinged or otherwise removable cap. The container is secured in a cavity in the top of the cap using appropriate detents that flex based upon the materials inherent resilient (e.g. a polymer material) to selectively engage with and disengage from the cap cavity. The cap can include a (unitary or integral) hook or ring that extends from the edges of the cap and can provide a stop that the lid of the secured container hinges against when placed in an open position. The hinge includes a detent adjacent to its front edge (opposite the side containing the hinge). This detent retains the lid in a closed position, but can be overcome by pressure applied by the user to open the lid.
