A photoconductive drum for an electrophotographic image forming device according to one example embodiment includes a cylindrical drum member. A shaft defines a rotational axis of the photoconductive drum. An end cap is positioned at an axial end of the drum member. An electrical contact is positioned against an axially inboard side of the end cap. The electrical contact electrically connects the shaft to the drum member. The electrical contact includes a plurality of projections that contact an inner circumferential surface of the drum member. A plurality of grooves are formed in an outer circumferential surface of the end cap.

A toner cartridge according to one example embodiment includes a housing having a toner reservoir. An outlet is positioned on the housing for exiting toner from the toner cartridge. An insert is selectably installable in the toner reservoir. The insert separates a first portion of the toner reservoir that is in fluid communication with the outlet from a remainder of the toner reservoir when the insert is installed in the toner reservoir providing a reduced capacity toner reservoir in the first portion of the toner reservoir.

A photoconductive drum assembly according to one embodiment includes a photoconductive drum rotatable about a rotational axis in first and second rotational directions. A spring brake has a coiled portion wrapped around a portion of the photoconductive drum at its axial end and around the rotational axis of the photoconductive drum. The spring brake has a first arm and a second arm. The first arm is positioned to flex in an unwinding direction causing the coiled portion to unwind upon the first arm receiving a force in the first rotational direction. The first arm is positioned to flex in a winding direction and to push the second arm in an unwinding direction relieving winding of the coiled portion caused by the flexing of the first arm in the winding direction of the first arm upon the first arm receiving a force in the second rotational direction.

A toner cartridge for an electrophotographic image forming device according to one example embodiment includes a housing having a reservoir for storing toner. The toner cartridge includes a first vent having an inlet opening positioned to receive air from outside the housing, an outlet opening positioned to exit the received air into the reservoir, and a one-way valve that permits airflow through the first vent from the inlet opening to the outlet opening and prevents airflow through the first vent from the outlet opening to the inlet opening. A check valve limits airflow through the first vent from the inlet opening to the outlet opening.

Venting system for a toner cartridge for use with an image forming device

A method of controlling a height of an encapsulant material on an inkjet printhead is provided. The method includes dispensing the encapsulant material on an outer portion of the inkjet printhead. The encapsulant material is then depressed to reduce its height on the outer portion of the inkjet printhead. The encapsulant material may be depressed directly after dispensing or before it completely cures. The encapsulant material may be completely cured before reducing its height. The height of the cured encapsulant material may be reduced by removing a top portion of the encapsulant material through machining operation. Reducing the height of the encapsulant material on the inkjet printhead minimizes the distance of the nozzle plate of the inkjet printhead to the printing media, thus improving print quality.
