A high throughput system for depositing seed into germination wells of a germination tray. The system comprises a seed distribution subsystem, and an individual seed transfer subsystem structured and operable to transfer individual seeds from wells in a seed storage tray to the seed deposition subsystem. The system additionally comprises a bulk seed transfer subsystem structured and operable to singulate a plurality of bulk seeds and transfer each singulated seed to the seed deposition subsystem, wherein the seed distribution subsystem structured and operable to receive seeds from the individual seed transfer subsystem and the bulk seed transfer subsystem, and deposit the seeds into wells of the seed germination tray.

Provided are methods for increasing the yield of a monocot plant through treatment of the plant with a plant growth regulator. In certain embodiments, maize plants produce multiple ears and an increased number of kernels. In certain embodiments, reduced height of the plant allows for more efficient self-pollination.

Provided are methods for growing a plant under certain stressed conditions that alter the morphology of the plant. In certain aspects, however, although the plant is altered and may be undesirable for commercial purposed, the plant still produces an adequate number of seeds for breeding purposes. A system and method for detecting and managing wildfires using fixed sensors is described. The system and method deploy a plurality of fixed sensors in an area to be monitored. Each fixed sensor is operable to detect ambient conditions in the vicinity of the fixed sensor and to relay that information to a central control center. Each fixed sensor dormant until powered by heat from a detected fire allowing the fixed sensor to send data related to the ambient conditions using the transceiver before the sensor device is consumed by the fire. The system can then determine the attributes of the wildfire from the collective data from the plurality of fixed sensors and coordinate the activity of responders in response to the wildfire using the collective data.

Distributed wild fire alert system

A system and method for detecting and managing wildfires is described. The system and method deploy a plurality of fixed sensors in an area to be monitored. Each fixed sensor is operable to detect ambient conditions in the vicinity of the fixed sensor and to relay that information to a central control center. A plurality of mobile sensors are deployed with responders, where each mobile sensor is capable of detecting ambient conditions near the respective responder and conditions of the responder. The plurality of mobile sensors are in communication with the central control center. The system then determines attributes of the wildfire from the collective data from the plurality of fixed sensors and the plurality of mobile sensors and coordinates the activity of responders in response to the wildfire using the collective data.

A warning device for the prevention of pressure sores and circulation problems from prolonged inactivity includes a sensor positioned in a pad to detect the weight of a user on the pad. A sitting timer measures the amount of time the user has continuously sat on the pad, and an alarm activated by the warning device when the user has continuously sat on the pad in excess of a first predetermined limit, wherein the alarm includes a visual alarm mechanism, an auditory alarm mechanism, and a sensory alarm mechanism. A standing timer is started when the user's weight is removed from the pad and measuring the amount of time the user has been off of the pad. The alarm is reactivated if the sensor detects the user's weight reapplied to the pad before the standing timer has expired.
