Techniques for transition files for use with content files and related metadata are described. In an example, a system determines a cue point of a video content file at which targeted content is to be presented. The system determines that a set of transition frames is to be presented at a start of a presentation of the targeted content or at an end of the presentation of the targeted content. The set of transition frames are available from a transition file that is separate from the video content file. The system generates metadata associated with the video content file. The metadata indicates that the set of transition frames is to be presented and an association of the set of transition frames with the cue point.

Systems and methods for audio and video content stitching are provided. an example method may include receiving a first video fragment and a second video fragment included within primary video content, the first video fragment and the second video fragment including one or more video frames, wherein the first video fragment is a first time duration, wherein the second video fragment is a second time duration, and wherein the first time duration and the second time duration are different. The example method may also include receiving a third video fragment associated with secondary video content. The example method may also include determining a first cue point within the primary video content, wherein the first cue point is located at a first time between a starting time of the first video fragment and a second time corresponding to a sum of the first time and a duration of the first time duration. The example method may also include adding the secondary video content to the primary video content at the first cue point. The example method may also include presenting the secondary video content at the first cue point within the primary video content.

Systems and methods for audio and video content stitching

A system for utilizing media content reference point information to perform media content encoding, and supplemental content stitching and/or insertion. Media content can be encoded and packaged based on boundaries of the media content. The boundaries can be received from a third-party and/or generated via an automated process. Target boundaries can be selected based on accuracy levels associated with the received and/or generated boundaries. Supplemental content can be stitched and/or inserted into packaged media content based on audio and video content of the packaged media content being aligned.

Example methods may include receiving a content stream including a first fragment having a first duration and a second fragment having the first duration. Certain methods may include determining an increased quality of service associated with encoding the content stream into fragments having a second duration. Certain methods may include generating, based at least in part on the increased quality of service, a third fragment having the second duration, and sending the content stream having the third fragment to a user device.

Techniques disclosed include server-side logic for inserting secondary content, such as advertisements, into primary content, such as a VOD presentation. Techniques are described for providing media presentations that include content originating from multiple sources in ways that are effectively transparent to end user devices. Manifest data provided to an end user device include a key encoded in the URL for each of the content fragments. The key encodes one or more interstitial periods of secondary content within the overall presentation of primary content. When a media server receives a content request from the end user device, the media server determines from the key encoded in the URL and the range of content requested whether the request corresponds to the primary content or the secondary content.
