A plasma display device with lowered discharge voltage by mixing activated carbon with phosphor layers and/or barrier ribs to produce carbon dioxide. The plasma display device includes a first substrate and a second substrate spaced from the first substrate, wherein the first substrate and the second substrate are sealed together. A plurality of barrier ribs are on the first substrate for defining a plurality of discharge cells between the first substrate and the second substrate. A phosphor layer is in the plurality of discharge cells, and a gas mixture including carbon dioxide is between the first and second substrates, wherein at least one of the phosphor layer or the plurality of barrier ribs includes an activated carbon.

Plasma display device and fabricating method for the same

A plasma display panel that includes a first substrate and a second substrate facing each other, a plurality of address electrodes disposed on the first substrate, a plurality of display electrodes disposed on one side of the second substrate facing the first substrate in a direction crossing the address electrodes, and red, green, and blue phosphor layers disposed in a discharge space between the first and second substrates. The green phosphor layer includes a green phosphor and an inorganic pigment absorbing a wavelength of about 580 nm to about 640 nm. The plasma display panel includes a green phosphor layer having a reduced decay time and good color purity characteristics, as well as excellent luminance, discharge, and life-span characteristics.

A plasma display panel (PDP) having improved discharge efficiency, low discharge firing voltage, and high reliability. A plasma display device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a first substrate and a second substrate spaced apart and facing each other. A plurality of address electrodes are between the first and second substrates. A plurality of barrier ribs are between the first and second substrates and define a plurality of discharge cells and a non-discharge region located between adjacent ones of the discharge cells. A carbon-based material is in the non-discharge region. A phosphor layer is in the plurality of discharge cells. A plurality of display electrodes are between the first and second substrates and extend in a direction crossing the address electrodes.
