An image reproducing apparatus having a screen blanking function for suspending image information displayed on a screen and a screen blanking method using the same are provided. The image reproducing apparatus includes a command applying circuit for applying image blanking execution and cancellation codes, a screen blanking determining circuit for determining whether a screen is to be blanked according to a code provided by the command applying circuit, and a screen power controlling circuit for controlling the power supply provided to the screen according to the determined result of the screen blanking determining circuit.

Image reproducing apparatus having a screen blanking function and a screen blanking method using the same

A method for compensating a motion of a moving image after estimating said motion is provided. In the method, a triangle-patch wireframe model is formed on a present frame of the moving image, and the triangle-patch wireframe model contains apexes. The motion vectors between the apexes of the triangle-patch wireframe model and corresponding points on a previous frame of the moving image is determined. The triangle-patch wireframe model on the present frame is transformed to form a transformed triangle-patch wireframe model on the previous frame by using the motion vectors such that the corresponding points respectively relate to secondary apexes of the transformed triangle-patch wireframe model. A first pixel value of a first pixel located at a predetermined position within the triangle-patch wireframe model of the present frame is replaced with a replacement pixel value of a second pixel located at a corresponding position within the triangle-patch wireframe model in the previous frame. Then, a new image is reconstructed using the replacement pixel value.

Method for motion compensation of a moving image using two dimensional

An image encoding method and apparatus for controlling a bit generation quantity using a quantization activity accurately controls a bit generation quantity of an encoding frame. The image encoding apparatus includes a discrete cosine transformer for discrete-cosine-transforming a difference signal between an image signal of a current frame and an image signal of a restored previous frame in units of a block and outputting the transformation coefficients, a quantizer and a variable-length-encoder for quantizing and variable-length-encoding the transformation coefficients according to a quantization stepsize, respectively, a buffer memory for temporarily storing the variable-length-encoded data and transmitting the stored data at a constant bit rate, a quantization activity calculator portion for calculating quantization activities by counting the number of the quantization coefficients which are not zero among the quantization coefficients to which each quantization stepsizes is applied, a quantization controller for predicting a desired bit generation quantity via a fullness of a buffer memory and a transmission rate, and determining a quantization stepsize of the quantization activity to generate the closest bit generation quantity to the predicted bit generation quantity using a linear proportional relationship between the calculated quantization activity and the variable-length-encoded data generation quantity. Thus, an overflow and an underflow of a buffer memory can be surely prevented and a transmission channel can be effectively used.

Image encoding method and apparatus for controlling the number of bits

A local relaxation method for estimating optical flow using a Poisson equation is provided. The local relaxation method includes the steps of a) determining the Poisson equation in a linear matrix of Gx=Ex+b according to a change of time, b) decoupling the determined velocity combination term of the Poisson equation, and c) applying a displaced frame difference of a temporal change to the Poisson equation where the velocity combination term is decoupled. Accordingly, the convergence speed is faster than that obtained using conventional technology. Also, in the case that a displaced frame difference is applied, the convergence value is accurate and motion in every pixel can be estimated in order to enhance image quality, and in the case of a video code, compression gain can be obtained by using a portion of a motion vector, i.e., the motion vector of a low band signal.
