Some methods may involve receiving fingerprint image data. Some methods may involve determining whether the fingerprint image data was captured by a first fingerprint sensor of a device or a second fingerprint sensor of the device. Some methods may involve obtaining an enhanced version of the fingerprint image data based on a determination that the fingerprint image data was captured by the second fingerprint sensor of the device. Some methods may involve providing the enhanced version of the fingerprint image data for authentication. In some examples, obtaining the enhanced version of the fingerprint image data may involve an image enhancement machine learning model. In some examples, prior to obtaining the enhanced version of the fingerprint image data, a determination is made that the fingerprint image data captured by the second fingerprint sensor fails to satisfy a quality threshold.

Systems and methods for multi-spectral ultrasonic imaging are disclosed. In one embodiment, a finger is scanned at a plurality of ultrasonic scan frequencies. Each scan frequency provides an image information set describing a plurality of pixels of the finger including a signal-strength indicating an amount of energy reflected from a surface of a platen on which a finger is provided. For each of the pixels, the pixel output value corresponding to each of the scan frequencies is combined to produce a combined pixel out put value for each pixel. Systems and methods for improving the data capture of multi-spectral ultrasonic imaging are also disclosed.

Multi-spectral ultrasonic imaging

This disclosure describes circuit configurations that may be used for active noise cancellation in the digital domain. In particular, this disclosure proposes the use a down sample unit and an up sample unit, rather than memory-based delay circuits, to achieve one or more desired delays in digital adaptive noise cancellation circuits or other circuits that use delay for signal processing. The delay achieved by the down sample unit and the up sample unit may be tunable so as to allow flexibility in producing the necessary delay for different active noise cancellation circuit configurations. Many different adaptive noise cancellation circuit configurations are discussed, and the techniques may also be useful for other types of circuits, such as low-latency equalization circuits.

Delay techniques in active noise cancellation circuits or other circuits that perform filtering of decimated coefficients

A processor is configured to transition in and out of a low-power state at a first rate and to operate in a first mode or a second mode. In a particular method, the processor while coupled to a coder/decoder (CODEC) retrieves audio feature data from a buffer after transitioning out of the low-power state. The CODEC is configured to operate at a second rate in the first mode and at a third rate in the second mode, the second rate and the third rate each greater than the first rate. The audio feature data indicates features of audio data received during the low-power state of the processor. A ratio of CODEC activity to processor activity in the second mode is less than the ratio in the first mode.

Extraction and analysis of buffered audio data using multiple codec rates each greater than a low-power processor rate

A method of determining whether a biometric object is part of a live individual is described. In one such method, image information is acquired from the biometric object by using a sensor, such as an ultrasonic sensor. The image information may be analyzed in at least two analysis stages. One of the analysis stages may be a temporal analysis stage that analyzes changes in the image information obtained during a time period throughout which the biometric object was continuously available to the sensor. For example, a dead/alive stage may analyze differences between image information taken at two different times in order to identify changes from one time to the next. Other stages may focus on aspects of a particular image information set, rather than seeking to assess changes over time. These other stages seek to determine whether an image information set exhibits characteristics similar to those of a live biometric object.

Multi-stage liveness determination

A fingerprint sensing apparatus may include a fingerprint sensor system and a control system capable of receiving fingerprint sensor data from the fingerprint sensor system. The control system may be capable of determining fingerprint sensor data blocks for at least a portion of the fingerprint sensor data and of calculating statistical variance values for fingerprint sensor data corresponding to each of the fingerprint sensor data blocks. The control system may be capable of determining, based at least in part the statistical variance values, whether an object is positioned proximate a portion of the fingerprint sensor system.

Some methods may involve determining whether an object is positioned on or near a portion of a fingerprint sensor system. If an object is positioned on or near the portion of the fingerprint sensor system, an acoustic impedance of at least a portion of the object may be determined. Based at least in part on the acoustic impedance, it may be determined whether the object is a finger.

An accessory device having multiple speakers and/or microphones to perform a number of audio functions, for use with mobile devices, are provided. The audio transducers (e.g., microphones and/or speakers) may be housed in one or more extendable and/or rotationally adjustable arms. To compensate for the unwanted signal feedback between the speakers and microphones, acoustic echo cancellation may be implemented to determine the proper distance and relative location between the speakers and microphones. Acoustic echo cancellation removes the echo from voice communications to improve the quality of the sound. The removal of the unwanted signals captured by the microphones may be accomplished by characterizing the audio signal paths from the speakers to the microphones (speaker-to-microphone path distance profile), including the distance and relative location between the speakers and microphones. The optimal distance and relative location between the speakers and microphones is provided to the user to optimize performance.

Optimizing audio processing functions by dynamically compensating for variable distances between speaker(s) and microphone(s) in an accessory device

A liveness-detection method and/or system is disclosed. A method of detecting liveness can comprise obtaining a single ultrasonic image of a biometric object. The single ultrasonic image can be subdivided into a plurality of overlapping sample blocks. Feature vectors can be extracted in a spatial domain and a frequency domain from each of the plurality of sample blocks. The feature vectors can be compared from each of the plurality of sample blocks to a classification model.

Image-based liveness detection for ultrasonic fingerprints

A fingerprint sensing apparatus includes a fingerprint sensor system and a control system capable of receiving fingerprint sensor data from the fingerprint sensor system. The control system may determine, according to the fingerprint sensor data, whether an object is positioned proximate a portion of the fingerprint sensor system. If the control system determines that an object is positioned proximate the portion of the fingerprint sensor system, the control system may determine whether the object is a finger or a non-finger object. The control system may determine whether the fingerprint sensor data includes fingerprint image information of at least an image quality threshold.
