Anti-counterfeiting is benefited by integrating both optical and digital encoding-decoding approaches for spoof protection, e.g., in print anti-spoofing. An optical-digital encoding-decoding system uses an encoded medium, such as a security label, to display images encoded with digital data, and a decoding device to decode or decrypt the digital data for achieving stronger authentication in anti-counterfeiting or other security-related purposes. The images are encoded into resonant waveguide gratings (RWGs) in the encoded medium, enabling angle multiplexing of the displayed images and addressing different secrecy requirements in optically handling different groups of security-related data. Furthermore, aperiodic diffraction gratings instead of periodic ones are used in RWGs for selected images intended to be viewed by users, broadening beamwidths of outgoing light beams generated by these RWGs to allow the selected images to be more conveniently viewed by the users over a wider range of angle.

Optical-digital encoding-decoding system

A lens driving apparatus includes: a fixed assembly including a base frame; a movable assembly including a lens holder configured to hold a lens unit; at least one set of magnets surrounding the movable assembly; three sets of coils configured to interact with the magnets and drive the movable assembly to move along a first, a second, and a third orthogonal axes; and a spring system attached between the movable assembly and the fixed assembly. The third axis is parallel to an optical axis of the lens unit. The first and second axes are respectively perpendicular to the third axis. The three sets of coils include a set of focusing coils and two sets of side coils. The at least one set of magnets include four magnetic members attached to inside walls of the outer casing, among which each two magnetic members are placed opposing to each other.

Lens driving apparatus

A lens driving apparatus includes: a fixed assembly, the fixed assembly including a base frame; a movable assembly, the movable assembly including a lens holder; a set of magnets surrounding the movable assembly; three sets of coils; and a spring system attached between the movable assembly and the fixed assembly and configured to support the movable assembly and form a suspension system to allow the movable assembly to move along a first, a second, and a third orthogonal axes. The lens holder is configured to hold a lens unit, the third axis is parallel to an optical axis of the lens unit, while the first and second axes are respectively perpendicular to the third axis.

A compact camera modules has first, second, and third lens groups that move along an optical axis. A stepping motor is centered on the optical axis rather than offset from the optical axis. The motor has two coils that are fixed in place and a shared rotating magnet. The magnet is attached to a rotating guide that has slots to move the first and second lens groups as it rotates. The two coils are alternately energized to rotate the magnet, the rotating guide, and to move the first and second lens groups for zoom. The magnet has alternating thicker and thinner segments of opposite polarity. The thicker segments exert a greater force on an autofocus coil that is energized to move the third lens for the autofocus function. The same shared rotating magnet is used for both zoom and autofocus functions. A more compact design is possible using a shared magnet.
