A display device includes a base layer, a circuit layer disposed on the base layer, a pixel definition layer disposed on the circuit layer, including an inorganic protective layer and an organic layer disposed on the inorganic protective layer, and defining a first opening adjacent to the circuit layer and exposing the inorganic protective layer and a second opening exposing the organic layer on the first opening, a light-emitting element including a first electrode disposed on the circuit layer, a functional layer disposed on the first electrode, and a second electrode disposed on the functional layer, and an encapsulation layer covering the pixel definition layer and the light-emitting element. The encapsulation layer includes an auxiliary electrode layer covering the light-emitting element, the inorganic protective layer, and the organic layer, an encapsulation organic film disposed on the auxiliary electrode layer, and an upper inorganic film disposed on the encapsulation organic film.

A display device includes a display device including a substrate, and a display unit disposed on the substrate. An encapsulating unit encapsulates the display unit. The encapsulating unit includes a barrier organic layer. The barrier organic layer includes a plurality of organic materials and a plurality of inorganic materials. The inorganic materials are arranged in free volumes between the organic materials.

A display device includes a substrate, a switching element on the substrate, a pixel electrode disposed on the switching element and connected to the switching element, a light emitting layer on the pixel electrode, a common electrode on the light emitting layer, and a sealing portion on the common electrode. The sealing portion includes an organic layer, and at least one first composite inorganic layer disposed between the organic layer and the common electrode. A display apparatus includes a substrate, a display area disposed on the substrate and including a plurality of pixels, a first planarization layer disposed on the substrate, a second planarization layer disposed on the first planarization layer, a pixel-defining layer disposed on the second planarization layer and covering at least one edge of a first electrode of each of the plurality of pixels, a plurality of first holes disposed between the plurality of pixels and spaced apart from the first electrode, and a first etching prevention layer disposed on a bottom surface of each of the first holes and on the first planarization layer.
