A three-way catalyst article, and its use in an exhaust system for internal combustion engines, is disclosed. The catalyst article for treating exhaust gas comprising: a substrate; and a single catalyst layer deposited directly on the substrate; wherein the single catalyst layer comprises a first platinum group metal (PGM) component, an oxygen storage component (OSC) material, and an inorganic oxide; and wherein the single catalyst layer has a total washcoat loading of less than 2.4 g/in.

Low washcoat loading single layer catalysts for gasoline exhaust gas applications

A three-way catalyst is disclosed. The three-way catalyst comprises a silver-containing extruded zeolite substrate and a catalyst layer disposed on the silver-containing extruded zeolite substrate. The catalyst layer comprises a supported platinum group metal catalyst comprising one or more platinum group metals and one or more inorganic oxide carriers. The invention also includes an exhaust system comprising the three-way catalyst. The three-way catalyst results in improved hydrocarbon storage and conversion, in particular during the cold start period.

Three-way catalyst and its use in exhaust systems

A three way catalyst includes an extruded solid body having by weight: 10-100% of at least one binder/matrix component; 5-90% of a zeolitic molecular sieve, a non-zeolitic molecular sieve or a mixture of any two or more thereof; and 0-80% optionally stabilised ceria. The catalyst also includes at least one precious metal and optionally at least one non-precious metal, wherein: (i) the at least one precious metal is carried in one or more coating layer(s) on the body surface; (ii) at least one metal is present throughout the body and at least one precious metal is carried in one or more coating layer(s) on a body surface; or (iii) at least one metal is present throughout the body, is present in a higher concentration at a body surface, and at least one precious metal is carried in one or more coating layer(s) on the body surface.

Three way catalyst comprising extruded solid body

A three way catalyst includes an extruded solid body having: 10-95% by weight of at least one binder/matrix component; 5-90% by weight of a zeolitic molecular sieve; and 0-80% by weight optionally stabilized ceria. The catalyst further includes at least one precious metal and optionally at least one non-precious metal. The at least one precious metal is carried in a coating layer on a surface of the extruded solid body; at least one metal is present throughout the extruded solid body and at least one precious metal is also carried in a coating layer on a surface of the extruded solid body; or at least one metal is present throughout the extruded solid body, is present in a higher concentration at a surface of the extruded solid body and at least one precious metal is also carried in a coating layer on the surface of the extruded solid body.

A process and composition for converting nitrogen oxides present in exhaust gases produced by an internal combustion engine utilize cobalt and at least one alkali metal or alkaline earth metal as a component of an adsorbent. The process involves contacting the exhaust gas with an adsorbent which adsorbs the nitrogen oxides in lean-burn conditions and recurrently reducing the oxygen concentration of the exhaust gas. During such periods of reduced oxygen concentration, the nitrogen oxides are then desorbed and reduced to nitrogen, thereby reducing the concentration of the nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas. The composition of the adsorbent comprises an oxide support and at least two components loaded on the support and containing cobalt and at least one alkali metal or alkaline earth metal. The composition demonstrates improved activity at higher temperatures and improved thermal stability.
