A cooling system may include a cylinder block; an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler that receives some of a coolant of the cylinder block and transmits the received coolant back to the cylinder block; a cylinder head that receives a coolant from the cylinder block; a thermal management module that selectively transmits the coolant received from the cylinder head to a plurality of coolant lines; a water pump that transmits the coolants transmitted from the plurality of coolant lines to the cylinder block; and a controller that is connected to the thermal management module and configured to control operation of the thermal management module.

The present disclosure provides a method and system, for controlling a coolant circulating in an engine, including: selecting a reference inlet temperature for a coolant flowing through a coolant inlet of an engine; controlling an open rate of the coolant control valve unit based on the reference inlet temperature; sensing an actual inlet temperature of the coolant flowing through the coolant inlet of the engine; sensing an actual outlet temperature of a coolant flowing through a coolant outlet of the engine; calculating a difference value between the actual inlet temperature and the actual outlet temperature; and varying the reference inlet temperature according to the difference value.

Method and system for controlling coolant circulating in engine

The present disclosure provides an engine cooling system having a coolant temperature sensor to sense the temperature of coolant discharged from an engine; a radiator radiating heat while part of the coolant discharged from the engine is passed through the radiator; a coolant control valve unit to control coolant passing through the radiator and coolant supplied from the engine; and a control unit configured to control the temperature of coolant by controlling the coolant control valve unit according to the coolant temperature sensed by the coolant temperature sensor, wherein the control unit calculates a coolant temperature at an entrance of the engine using the sensed coolant temperature and a heat rejection rate of the engine based on the operation condition, calculates a temperature of coolant discharged from the radiator, and controls the opening degree of the coolant control valve unit using the coolant temperatures.

The present disclosure provides a split cooling apparatus for an internal combustion engine, the apparatus including: a base inserted into a water jacket of a cylinder block, the base surrounding an outside of a cylinder along a shape of the cylinder; an insertion groove formed on the base by being depressed into an inner surface of the base; and a sealing member inserted into the insertion groove, wherein when a temperature of cooling water supplied into the water jacket reaches a preset temperature or higher, the sealing member expands so as to close a flow passage between the base and the cylinder, thereby increasing flow resistance of the cooling water and thus reducing a heat transfer rate of the cylinder.

A split cooling system of an internal combustion engine may include a water pump configured to circulate cooling water; a cylinder head and a cylinder block configured to be supplied with the cooling water from the water pump; an integrated flow control valve configured to include an inlet provided to be supplied with the cooling water of the cylinder head and a plurality of valves that are configured to be opened or closed to distribute the cooling water introduced through the inlet to an oil heat exchanger, a heater core, and a radiator; and a split cooler configured to be mounted at the cylinder block to provide a split cooling channel in the cylinder block and the cylinder header.
