Embodiments of the invention provide a power supply including a transformer comprising a single output terminal on a secondary side, a first output unit comprising a first capacitor and connected to the single output terminal to output a first output voltage, a second output unit comprising a second capacitor having a larger capacity than the first capacitor and connected to the single output terminal to output a second output voltage, and a controller configured to control the first output voltage to be output until power is applied and charging of the second capacitor is started.

A planar transformer according to an aspect of the invention may include: a core part having a pair of cores electromagnetically coupled to each other; a board part having a plurality of boards disposed between the pair of cores and stacked upon one another; a pattern part having a power transmission pattern provided on at least one board of the plurality of boards of the board part and transmitting power being input, and a dummy pattern provided on the same board having the power transmission pattern thereon and separated from the power transmission pattern by a predetermined interval; and a resin part being coated over the at least one board of the plurality of boards, the at least one board having the pattern part thereon.

A switching mode power supply (SMPS) circuit includes: a rectifying unit that rectifies an AC voltage applied from an AC input terminal; a power factor correction (PFC) and standby voltage output unit that is connected to the rectifying unit and has a PFC part and a standby voltage output part integrated therein; a PFC and standby voltage control unit that is connected to the PFC and standby voltage output unit and controlling the PFC and standby voltage output unit; and a DC/DC conversion unit that is connected to the PFC and standby voltage output unit and outputting a main voltage.

Backlight driving system for liquid crystal display

Provided is a flyback DC/DC converter for a power supply. In the flyback DC/DC converter, a flyback driver unit provides a primary current. A transformer includes a plurality of secondary coils for inducing energy from the primary coil receiving the primary current. A rectifier unit includes a plurality of rectifier diodes for rectifying secondary currents of the corresponding secondary coils of the transformer. A plurality of clamp diodes are connected in series to the corresponding rectifier diodes of the rectifier unit in a forward direction to clamp ringing voltage across the corresponding rectifier diodes when the power switch is turned off. Accordingly, the voltage across the rectifier diode on the secondary side can be reduced such that it is lower than the output voltage. Also, it is possible to remove the ringing voltage of the rectifier diode and to enhance the efficiency of the flyback DC/DC converter.
