A hinge assembly of a computing device may be provided, for example. The hinge assembly may include a first hinge member and a second hinge member. The first hinge member may include a first mounting plate attached to a first gudgeon member via a first tongue portion. The second hinge member may include a second mounting plate attached to a second gudgeon member via a second tongue portion. The first and second mounting plates may be shaped so that they can be stacked in parallel along an axis such that the first and second gudgeons may be aligned perpendicular to the axis to allow a pintle member to be inserted through the first and second gudgeons and such that the first and second tongue portions may be spaced apart along the axis.

Hinge assemblies for computing devices

A latch system employs momentum exchange impact damping. A latch is slideably arranged within a housing so that the latch can slide between a latch position and a release position. A damper spring urges a damper against a wedge of the latch. When a mechanical impact urges said latch toward the release position, the latch wedge impacts the damper so as to exchange momentum from the latch to the damper so that the latch remains in the latch position.

A printed circuit assembly carrier comprises a carrier frame configured to hold a selected printed circuit assembly of at least two different printed circuit assemblies in at least two different orientations, a first toolless retention feature coupled to a first surface of the carrier frame and configured to retain the selected printed circuit assembly, and a second toolless retention feature coupled to a second surface of the carrier frame and configured to secure the carrier frame in at least one of the orientations.

Systems for mounting electronic components are provided. An exemplary system includes a module that is configured to mount to a chassis at a first pitch. The module incorporates a housing, which is adapted to at least partially encase an electronic component, and spring fingers that are arranged at least partially about an exterior of the housing. The spring fingers are configured to deflect in response to a displacement force so that the module can be mounted to a chassis. The module can be mounted to a first chassis that accommodates a predetermined pitch of modules. In some embodiments, the module also can be mounted at a different pitch. Other systems also are provided.

The present invention provides a modular data storage system that can constraint movement of a data storage module within an enclosure during operation, handling, and transportation. The present invention achieves the objective by employing compliant features at strategic locations in the data storage system by utilizing shock/vibration isolators and the frictional forces generated by the compliant elements to introduce damping effects. In addition, this invention provides a locking mechanism that will allow the user to smoothly insert, remove and firmly grip a data storage module.
