An exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure provides a rechargeable battery including: an electrode assembly that includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and a separator interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode; a case that accommodates the electrode assembly, in one lateral surface of which a hole is formed, and that includes an opening formed in another lateral surface facing the one lateral surface; a sealing portion that is connected to the hole and seals the hole so that a lateral surface of the case is flattened; a cap plate combined with the opening; and a second terminal that is connected to the second electrode and is protruded outside the case while passing through the cap plate, wherein the hole may have a shape recessed toward the electrode assembly with respect to a surface of the case.

A rechargeable battery includes: an electrode assembly including a first electrode and a second electrode; a case accommodating the electrode assembly; a first terminal electrically coupled to the first electrode, and a second terminal electrically coupled to the second electrode; a cap plate combined to the case and having a short-circuit hole formed therein; a membrane fixed to the cap plate and arranged in the short-circuit hole, the membrane being deformable to short-circuit the first electrode and the second electrode; and a short-circuit protrusion electrically coupled to the second electrode and arranged above the membrane to protrude theretoward, the short-circuit protrusion being arranged toward a side from a center of the short-circuit hole.

A rechargeable battery includes an electrode assembly including a first electrode, a second electrode, and a separator between the first electrode and the second electrode, a case accommodating the electrode assembly, a cap plate coupled to the case, a first current collector coupled to the first electrode of the electrode assembly, and a first terminal assembly. The first terminal assembly includes a first terminal coupled to the first current collector and having a first fixed groove or a first fixed protrusion, and a second terminal having a second fixed groove coupled to the first fixed protrusion or a second fixed protrusion coupled to the first fixed groove.

A rechargeable battery includes a conductive case including a bottom part and a wall part extending from a periphery of the bottom part, an electrode assembly including a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and accommodated in the case, a cap plate opposite to the bottom part and electrically connected to the case, a positive terminal fixed to the cap plate and electrically connected to the cap plate, a negative terminal fixed to the cap plate and electrically insulated from the cap plate, a positive electrode tab extending from the positive electrode and electrically connected to the bottom part, and a negative electrode tab extending from the negative electrode, facing the positive electrode tab, and electrically connected to the negative terminal, wherein a length of the cap plate in a first direction is less than a height of the wall part in a second direction.
