A wireless location determination system of the present invention includes one or more location determination nodes (reception units) for calculating standard deviations of time intervals between pulses sequentially received from a location determination target, and estimating reliability values from the standard deviations. Disclosed herein is an apparatus and method for detecting an impulse signal or impulse sequence to realize wireless real-time location system application in a multipath fading environment. The apparatus includes a band-pass filter, an RF analog unit, and a signal processing base-band unit. The RF analog unit detects the envelope of the impulse sequence deprived of the unnecessary frequency bands and based on a multipath, and outputs a digital signal regarding the envelope based on a leading edge of the envelope.
