Methods and systems according to one or more examples are provided for reducing chatter in a no-back brake during aiding load operations. In one example, an apparatus comprises a no-back brake, disposed within an actuator coupled to an aircraft, including a shaft, and a ball ramp plate, coupled to the shaft, to receive a force comprising an air loading force and is displaced responsive to the force. The apparatus further comprises a brake, coupled to the shaft and coupled to the ball ramp plate, and displaced by the ball ramp plate corresponding to a distance the ball ramp plate is displaced. The apparatus further comprises a modulating spring, coupled to the shaft and coupled to the brake, configured to compress in response to the brake being displaced, and the modulating spring is configured to apply a selective compressive force at the brake corresponding to a distance the brake is displaced.

Bi-directional no-back brake progressive modulation spring systems and methods

Example methods and apparatus for mitigating aerodynamic flutter of aircraft wing flaps are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a fairing, an actuator, and a damper. The fairing is located on a bottom side of a wing of an aircraft. The actuator is disposed in the fairing. The actuator is coupled to and extends between the wing and a flap of the wing. The damper is disposed in the fairing. The damper is coupled to and extends between the fixed wing and the moveable flap.

Methods and apparatus for mitigating aerodynamic flutter of aircraft wing flaps

An aircraft flap blow back prevention device includes a first ball-ramp plate, and output coupling engaged therewith, rotatable about an axis. A second ball-ramp plate is disposed adjacent the first plate such that ball-ramp surfaces thereof are opposed, with a ball therebetween, and such that first and second braking surfaces thereof oppose respective first and second stationary braking structures. A spring biasing the first plate toward the second plate spaces apart the first braking surface and first braking structure. An input shaft axially extends through the first and second plates in a lost window arrangement, wherein an absolute value of rotational torque applied to the output coupling, greater than rotational torque applied to the input shaft, causes the ball to urge apart the plates and the braking surfaces thereof to be urged against the respective braking structures to cease rotation of the output coupling. An associated method is also provided.

Blow back prevention device, and associated method

A transmission device, comprising an offset gearbox assembly coupling rotatable input and output shafts extending in respective input and output axial directions. An output gear is mounted in the offset gearbox assembly and is rotatable in a drive direction about an output gear axis to rotate the output shaft coupled therewith. An idler gear coupled to the output gear is rotatable about an idler gear axis in association with the output gear. An input gear assembly is coupled to the idler gear, is rotatable about an input gear axis in association with the idler gear, and is coupled to the input shaft such that rotation of the input shaft causes rotation of the output gear in the drive direction. The input gear assembly has the input shaft coupled therewith such that the input axial direction is nonparallel to the output axial direction. An associated method is also provided.

Low-profile, rotating-shaft transmission device, and associated method

Cooperating brake discs, rotors, and stators all are located at the same side of a pair of cam plate flanges. The cam plate flanges are coupled to an inner sleeve and input gear, respectively, with balls and ball ramp sockets for forcing apart the cam plate flanges when an output side is driven relative to an input side. The brake is effective to prevent relative rotation of the output side relative to the input side, but is released by rotation of an input gear for driving the inner sleeve.

A system for automatically locking a lavatory door on an aircraft from a remote location comprises means for activating the system, means for sensing the presence of a person in the lavatory, means for locking the lavatory when it is unoccupied and means for selectively overriding the system to allow entry by authorized personnel.
