An antenna and methods of fabricating the antenna and a resonator of the antenna. The antenna includes an antenna feed arranged to emit an electromagnetic signal along a predetermined direction; a resonator disposed adjacent to the antenna feed arranged to improve a directivity of the electromagnetic signal being emitted by the antenna feed; wherein the resonator includes a first reflector and a second reflector sandwiching a resonating cavity therebetween; and wherein the first reflector includes a curved reflector surface.

Antenna and methods of fabricating the antenna and a resonator of the antenna

System and method for determining gain characteristics of a circularly-polarized antenna. The method includes receiving a measured first amplitude of a forward gain between a circularly-polarized antenna probe of a first type and a linearly-polarized standard-gain antenna, a measured second amplitude of a forward gain between a circularly-polarized antenna probe of a first type and a circularly-polarized antenna under test, and a measured third amplitude of a forward gain between a circularly-polarized antenna probe of a second type and the circularly-polarized antenna under test. The method also includes determining a left-hand circularly-polarized gain and a right-hand circularly-polarized gain of the circularly-polarized antenna under test based on the measured first amplitude, the measured second amplitude, the measured third amplitude, and a cross-polarization level of the circularly-polarized antenna probes of the first and second types. The determination may be performed using one or more processors.

Determination of gain characteristics of a circularly-polarized antenna

System and method for determining gain characteristics of a linearly-polarized antenna. The method includes receiving a measured first amplitude of a forward gain between a circularly-polarized antenna probe and a linearly-polarized standard-gain antenna, a measured second amplitude of a forward gain between the circularly-polarized antenna probe and a linearly-polarized antenna under test, a measured third amplitude of a forward gain between a linearly-polarized antenna probe and the linearly-polarized standard-gain antenna, and a measured fourth amplitude of a forward gain between the linearly-polarized antenna probe and the linearly-polarized antenna under test. The method also includes determining a co-polarization gain and a cross-polarization gain of the linearly-polarized antenna under test based on the measured first amplitude, the measured second amplitude, the measured third amplitude, and the measured fourth amplitude. The determination may be performed using one or more processors.

Determination of gain characteristics of a linearly-polarized antenna

A patch antenna is presented herein. The patch antenna can include a substrate layer, a dielectric layer and a conductive layer. The substrate layer can include a hollow thermoplastic structure. The dielectric layer can be attached to a surface of the substrate layer. Furthermore, the dielectric layer can include a thermoplastic structure filled with a fluid. The conductive layer can be associated with another surface of the substrate layer.

Patch antenna

A complementary antenna (e.g., wideband complementary antenna) is presented herein. A complementary antenna can include a first dipole portion, a second dipole portion, a first electrically conductive surface, and a second electrically conductive surface. The first dipole portion can include a first patch antenna portion and a second patch antenna portion. The second dipole portion can include a third patch antenna portion and a fourth patch antenna portion electrically coupled to the second patch antenna portion via a strip antenna portion. The first electrically conductive surface can be coupled to the first dipole portion and the second dipole portion via a first set of electrically conductive pins. The second electrically conductive surface can be coupled to the first electrically conductive surface via a second set of electrically conductive pins.

Waveguide fed and wideband complementary antenna

A complementary wideband antenna includes a planar dipole formed of two dipole sections and a shorted patch antenna located between the dipole sections, the dipole sections being spaced above a ground plane. A variety of different feed probe designs can be used to excite the antenna. The complementary wideband antenna has electrical characteristics including low back radiation, low cross polarization, a symmetrical radiation pattern, and is stable in gain and radiation pattern shape over the frequency bandwidth.

Complementary wideband antenna

There is described a patch antenna with a meandering strip feed. The antenna comprises a patch spaced from a ground plane, with the patch being substantially parallel with said ground plane, and a feed probe located between the patch and the ground plane. The feed probe comprises at least two portions parallel to the patch but spaced by different distances from the patch.
