A delta configuration is signaled for handover of a wireless communication device (e.g., a user equipment, UE) from a first form of connectivity to a second form of connectivity. For example, a UE with master cell group (MCG) connectivity may be handed-over to multiple radio access technology-dual connectivity (MR-DC). In some examples, a UE with standalone (SA) connectivity may be handed-over to non-standalone (NSA) connectivity (e.g., dual connectivity). In conjunction with this handover the UE may be signaled as to whether the UE is to reuse a configuration from the first connectivity mode during the second connectivity mode.

Techniques are provided for transmission of measurement reports from a UE to a base station. A method may include receiving a measurement configuration message from a serving cell. The method may include determining a report value from the measurement configuration message, the report value indicating a number of measurement reports to be transmitted to the serving cell. The method may include, based on the number of measurement reports indicated by the report value, determining whether to wait for a signal measurement result of at least one neighboring cell to become available prior to sending a measurement report to the serving cell.

The IWS may select one or more parameters for pilot search based on the at least one measurement value for the UE to use for pilot searching in the 1x network. Further the IWS may transmit the selected one or more parameters for pilot search to the UE for pilot searching in the 1x network.

Before a transfer is made to the second radio access technology based on the indication, a UE receives neighbor information for the second radio access technology via the first radio access technology. Thereafter, a transfer is performed to transfer the UE from the first radio access technology to the second radio access technology.

Apparatus and method to perform fast neighbor list search during a transfer to a different RAT target system

A mobile device can save time by validating a stored message, which was previously unreadable, by utilizing a related message, which can be received at a much quicker rate. In accordance with some aspects, the mobile device can save time by validating the stored message by reading a new related message and subsequently re-reading or descrambling the stored message or its CRC. The first attempt to read the message might not be successful due to a scrambling information change or due to other reasons. The reason for the failure of the first attempt to read the message may be determined based on whether a later attempt to read the message with the same or a different scrambling information is successful.

Validation of stored or incoming messages

A reference signal management (RSM) program executing on a mobile device detects multiple reference signals, allocates those reference signals into groups, and performs reference signal management functions using information conveyed in the reference signals. The RSM program detects both broadband and narrowband reference signals and maintains updated groups of reference signals that are transmitted from access points with independent configurations or different radio technologies. Battery power of the mobile device is efficiently used to manage reference signals in heterogeneous network environments by preventing unnecessary handoffs, overhead downloads, access probes and new registrations. Reference signals are managed from both synchronous and asynchronous sectors and in idle mode as well as in connected state mode. The RSM program performs functions such as managing handoffs between access points, managing an idle mode of the mobile device, managing an active group of the detected reference signals, and collecting overhead parameters for the mobile device.

Methods and apparatus for searching a list of pilot signals. A method is provided for searching a list of pilot signals in a communication network. The method includes defining a prio list that indicates an order in which the list of pilot signals will be searched, obtaining a search duration, and determining an indicator that identifies a portion of the prio list that can be searched within the search duration. The method also includes performing a search of the portion of the prio list, and updating the list of pilot signals based on the results of the search.

Techniques for scanning other frequency channels for candidate base stations are described. In one scheme, the scanning of other frequency channels is performed based on the received signal quality (e.g., pilot Ec/Io) for an active base station that a wireless device is monitoring for user-specific and overhead messages. The scanning is bypassed if the active pilot Ec/Io exceeds a high threshold and performed if the active pilot Ec/Io is between the high threshold and a low threshold. In another scheme, the scanning of other frequency channels is performed at a rate that is a function of the active pilot Ec/Io. In yet another scheme, the scanning of other frequency channels is performed based on the active pilot Ec/Io and further using an adaptive timer. The timer is set to an initial value and thereafter adjusted by variable amounts determined by active pilot Ec/Io measurements.
