Embodiments relate to a concept for testing a transceiver device () which may be coupled to an antenna array (), the antenna array () comprising at least two an antenna elements. It is provided () spatial radiation characteristics of an antenna reference or the antenna array () and at least one antenna element of the antenna array. It is determined (), based on the spatial radiation characteristics and a predefined test quantity for a spatially unaware receiver or transmitter test of the transceiver device (), a spatially aware test quantity for testing the transceiver device () using the spatially unaware receiver or transmitter test based on the determined spatially aware test quantity.

Method, apparatus and computer program for testing a transceiver device

The invention relates to a method of calibrating the reception path and the transmit path of an antenna array which is formed of at least three antennas and which is connected to a digital signal processor. For calibrating the reception path a signal of known amplitude and known phase is transmitted by a single antenna and received by n&#x2212;1 antennas. For calibrating the transmit path of an antenna array path a signal of known amplitude and known phase is transmitted by n&#x2212;1 antennas and received by the nantenna. A phase difference and an amplitude difference between each of the n&#x2212;1 transmitted signals is evaluated and the steps are repeated with a new transmit antenna until every antenna has been used as a transmit antenna. In the last step the phase differences and their associated amplitude differences are set to the factory-said values.

Calibration method for smart antenna arrays

A method and base station apparatus are presented for calculating the Voltage Standing Wave Ratio of a radio frequency transmission line which is coupled with a first and a second directional coupler, the first directional coupler developing a first voltage indicative of the forward power propagating along the radio frequency transmission line in a first direction, the second directional coupler developing a second voltage indicative of a reflected power propagating along the radio frequency transmission line in a reverse direction. The method includes, in a second stage of installation, collecting values of the first and the second voltage, connecting at least one correction value with the second voltage to form a corrected second voltage, and forming the Voltage Standing Wave Ratio on the basis of the first voltage and the corrected second voltage. The correction value is obtained in a calibration process in a first stage of installation.
