The present invention relates to a predominantly biodegradable double-separating film and comprising at least one carrier layer (a) that is based on at least one biodegradable polymer, and at least one release layer (b) that is based on at least one cured polysiloxane. The curing of said release layer is based, at least partially, on at least one cross-linked monomer or oligomer additive. Said additive also promotes adhesion between the carrier layer (a) and the release layer (b), and has no siloxane groups but does have at least two functional groups, of which at least one is a functional group with at least one carbon double bond. No adhesion-promoting layer is present between the carrier layer (a) and the release layer (b). In addition the invention relates to the use of such a separating film as a removable protection and cover film.

Predominantly biodegradable release film

A transparent multi-layered film arrangement comprising at least three layers, wherein the film arrangement comprises one layer is made of a biodegradable polylactic acid (PLA) and a polyglycol as plasticizer, said polyglycol having a molecular weight of between 35,000 and 4,000,000, and at least two outer layers, each of said two outer layers being made of PLA.

Hydrophilic organofunctional silicone copolymers

A contact transparent single layer or multilayer film absorbing and/or reflecting UV radiation and short-wavelength visible light is disclosed. The film comprises at least one layer based on at least one optionally modified thermoplastic olefin homo- or co-polymer, comprising a combination of at least one organic or inorganic colored pigment or dye absorbing and/or reflecting short-wavelength visible light, and of at least one organic or inorganic compound absorbing and/or reflecting the UV radiation. The film disclosed herein can be used as a protective film against the effects of UV radiation and short-wavelength visible light, and a sewer cleaning system comprising said multilayer film as an external hose film and an inner, multilayer plastic film, and an impregnated UV-curable carrier material present between the two hose films.

Polyvinyl acetals which contain acetal moieties derived by acetalizing polyvinyl alcohol with both aliphatic aldehydes or their derivatives and with amino- and/or ammonium-substituted aldehydes display exceptional substrate adhesion when used in printing ink as binders, allowing inks without adhesion promoters to be produced.

Aminofunctional polyvinylacetals

Low shear-thinning polyvinyl acetals having a solution viscosity in 30% strength by weight solution in methyl ethyl ketone which changes by not more than 10% in a shear rate range from 1 to 100 s. The preparation of the low shear-thinning polyvinyl acetals involves acetalation of partly hydrolyzed or completely hydrolyzed vinyl ester polymers comprising &#x2267;50 mol % of vinyl alcohol units with one or more aldehydes, optionally in the form of the hydrates, hemiacetals or full acetals, wherein from 0 to 60% by weight of the aldehyde, based on the total amount of the aldehyde, is initially introduced over the course of the first one to ten minutes of the acetalation and is prereacted over the course of from 1 to 30 minutes, and the remaining proportion is then metered in continuously over the course of at least 20 minutes.

Less shear-thinning polyvinyl acetals

Polymer dispersions of polymers derived from silicone macromers and ethylenically unsaturated monomers are capable of incorporating large amounts of chemically bonded macromer, when the silicone macromer and part of the unsaturated monomer are polymerized in aqueous medium as an initial charge with an oil soluble initiator, and the remaining monomers are fed in and polymerized using a water soluble initiator. The dispersions may be dried to form water redispersible polymer powders.

Method for production of mixed polymers containing silicon

Silicone-modified polyvinyl acetal copolymers are prepared by copolymerization of at least one vinyl ester monomer and a copolymerizable silicone macromer followed by hydrolysis to a partly or fully hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol copolymer and subsequent acetalation with at least one aldehyde. The copolymers have numerous uses in sectors where polyvinyl acetals are useful.

Silicone-containing addition polymers having numerous uses are prepared by polymerizing addition polymerizable monomers in the presence of a silicone-containing polyvinyl alcohol, and/or by adding a silicone-containing polyvinyl alcohol to an aqueous addition polymer dispersion prior to spray drying, the silicone-containing polyvinyl alcohol containing at least one polymerizable group.

Method for producing silicone-treated polymers

The invention relates to polyvinyl alcohols and polyvinyl acetals which contain silane and can be obtained by means of a) radical polymerization of at least one vinyl ester of unbranched or branched alkyl carboxylic acids comprising between 1 and 18 C atoms, in the presence of aldehydes containing silane or the hemiacetals or full acetals thereof, b) saponification of the vinyl ester polymers obtained thereby, and optionally c) acetalation of the partially saponified or fully saponified vinyl ester polymers.
