Emulsions

A surface active mixture comprising: (A) from about 1 to about 50% by weight of an anionic surfactant having one or two lipophilic groups and having from 1 to 22 carbon atoms and a polar group selected from the group consisting of carboxylate, sulfate and sulfonate groups; (B) from about 0.5 to about 15% by weight of an alkyl glycoside of the formula R(G).sub.x, wherein R is a linear saturated alkyl radical having from 8 to 22 carbon atoms and (G).sub.x is a glycoside or oligoglycoside unit with a degree of oligomerization x of 1 to 10; (C) from about 0.1 to about 7% by weight of a nitrogen-containing copolymer having a molecular weight of from about 15,000 to about 1,500,000 wherein said copolymer is comprised of: (i) from about 99.5 to about 45 mole-% of units derived from vinyl pyrrolidone, (ii) from at 0.5 to about 50 mole-% of units derived from a monomer corresponding to formula (I):

Clear surface-active mixtures containing anionic surfactant, APG, and

Hair treatment compositions containing a combination of a zwitterionic polymer and a derivative of 2-pyrrolidone. Such preparations improve the condition of the hair, in particular the moisture retention and curl retention capability after cleaning or cosmetic treatment. In addition, the preparations are better tolerated by the skin.

Hair treatment prepartation

The invention concerns the use of combinations of active substances, consisting of (a) a cationic derivative of a protein hydrolyzate and (b) a carbohydrate and/or (c) a cationic, anionic or ampholytic polymer, in hair-cleaning and hair-care agents, thus improving the qualities of the hair, in particular its brittleness and its ease of combing when dry.

Cosmetic preparations for the hair

Acidic, aqueous hair treatment emulsions, in which an active ingredient combination of phospholipids of natural origin and inorganic and/or organic acids is used, improve the wet and dry combability and reduce the electrostatic charging of hair.

Hair treatment compositions containing natural ingredients

An aqueous hair-treatment preparation containing an antistatic additive imparting an antistatic effect to the hair, characterized in that said antistatic additive is at least one cationic polymer produced by the process of (1) epoxidizing 1,3-diene homopolymers or copolymers, (2) amine reacting the epoxide compound so produced with low molecular weight amines selected from the group consisting of primary amines, secondary amines and tertiary amines, and (3) converting the reaction products into the salt form or into polymeric quaternary ammonium salts. The use of these polymeric amine salts or quaternary ammonium salts in cosmetic hair-treatment preparations provides these preparations with antistatic effects. Preferred cationic polymers are obtained by the expoxidation of polybutadiene, of which more than 50% of the monomer units show the 1,4-cis- configuration, reaction with dimethylamine or morpholine and conversion into the hydrochlorides or alkylation with glycidyl trimethylammonium chloride, 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl trimethylammonium chloride or ethylene oxide. The cationic polymers are preferably used in shampoos in quantities of from 0.5 to 5.0% by weight in addition to 5 to 30% by weight of alkylether sulfate tensides and 1 to 5% by weight of a zwitterionic or amphoteric washing-active substance.

Cationic polymers as antistatic additives for hair preparations

An aqueous hair-treatment preparation containing an antistatic additive imparting an antistatic effect to the hair, characterized in that said antistatic additive is at least one cationic polymer produced by the process of (1) epoxidizing 1,3-diene homopolymers or copolymers (2) reacting the epoxide compound so produced with low molecular weight amines selected from the group consisting of primary amines, secondary amines and tertiary amines, and (3) converting the reaction products into the salt form or into polymeric quaternary ammonium salts. The use of these polymeric amine salts or quaternary ammonium salts in cosmetic hair-treatment preparations provides these preparations with antistatic effects. Preferred cationic polymers are obtained by the epoxidation of polybutadiene, of which more than 50% of the monomer units show the 1,4-cis-configuration, reaction with dimethylamine or morpholine and conversion into the hydrochlorides or alkylation with glycidyl trimethylammonium chloride, 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl trimethylammonium chloride or ethylene oxide. The cationic polymers are preferably used in shampoos in quantities of from 0.5 to 5.0% by weight in addition to 5 to 30% by weight of alkylether sulfate tensides and 1 to 5% by weight of a zwitterionic or amphoteric washing-active substance.

An aqueous or aqueous-alcoholic composition useful for washing or rinsing hair which contains a water-soluble ionic polymer and from about 0.1 to 20% by weight of a water soluble salt of a di- or tri-carboxylic acid containing from 6 to 44 carbon atoms. The ionic polymers may be cationic, anionic, amphoteric or zwitter-ionic. Preferred di- or tri-carboxylic acids are those in which two of the carboxyl groups are separated from one another by at least 3 carbon atoms. The composition further includes a quaternary ammonium compound as a preferred component. Hair rinses preferably contain as an additional ingredient from about 0.1 to 10% by weight of a water-insoluble cosmetic oil or fat component, while shampoos additionally contain from about 1 to 25% by weight of anionic, ampholytic, zwitter-ionic or nonionic surfactant.
