The optical instrument, in particular binoculars, is characterized by exhibiting an integral stable inner housing including the eyepiece tube, the objective tube, the prism seat and possibly the hinge mechanism. The inner housing is encased in plastic foam which determines the outer contour of the instrument.

A warning reflector construction is provided comprising a transparent plate having a rear surface opposite a light-entrance surface. The rear surface comprises torus surfaces arranged side-by-side and supporting an outermost reflective layer. The optical axes of the torus surfaces can be arranged at an angle to the perpendicular to the light-entrance surface. The warning reflector can be produced by injection moulding or stamping.

A runner to keep snowplows off of a pavement or surface area for the protection of ground markings, comprising an upper portion 12 having a base 1 to be placed on the street surface 21 and upward sloping surfaces 2 and sloping sides 3 and an anchoring portion 5 to be inserted into a corresponding recess in the pavement 20, whereby the longitudinal side walls 6 of the anchoring portion 5 are perpendicular to the base 1 and extend longitudinally beyond the base 1 and the upward sloping surfaces 2 extend below the base 1.

A retroreflector plate and a method for its manufacture are described. The retroreflector plates consist of a transparent plate with a reflective rear side, the front side of which comprises adjacently disposed, curved light incidence surfaces, and the rear side of which comprises adjacently disposed, curved reflection surfaces, in which case the optical axis of each individual light incidence surface coincides with the optical axis of a respective reflection surface. The retroreflector plates are distinguished by the fact that, when the light incidence surfaces or the reflection surfaces are projected perpendicular and parallel onto the plate surface, as the plane of horizontal projection, the outlines of the reflection surfaces comprise different surface content, when compared with each other and with the light incidence surfaces, or, the outlines of the light incidence surfaces and their respective reflection surfaces substantially comprise the same surface content, while having different contour shapes. The retroreflector plates are further distinguished by the highest possible luminous values and at the same time by a wide angle range of reflection.

A warning reflector construction is provided comprising a transparent plate having a rear surface opposite a light-entrance surface. The rear surface comprises toric surfaces arranged side-by-side and supporting an outermost reflective layer. The optical axes of the toric surfaces can be arranged at an angle to the perpendicular to the light-entrance surface. The warning reflector can be produced by injection moulding or stamping.

A glass mirror plate and a method for its production is described. The glass mirror plate is characterised by a layer structure consisting of at least a glass layer, a reflective layer, a gummed layer and a supporting plate. The glass layer can be subdivided into single elements or can consist of a pliable glass film. The glass mirror plates are in particular suitable for concentrating solar collectors.

Identification plates are produced by applying retroreflective material upon a male die member and subsequently pressing a plate blank over the retroreflective material to adhere the material to the blank. The blank is then lifted from the male die member and the retroreflective material, in the form of characters to be formed upon the identification plate, has pressure applied thereto to remove air bubbles. The blank is then replaced on the male die member which is formed with male die elements also in the form of the characters to be produced, and by applying a compressive force to the plate blank, an identification plate is formed with indented retroreflective characters devoid of air bubbles or the like. When replacing the plate blank on the male die member after application of pressure to the retroreflective material to remove the air bubbles, the device operates to insure accurate realignment between the retroreflective characters and the male die elements forming the indentations in the form of the characters in the identification plate.

A binocular telescope has a pair of eye-pieces set in threaded mounts and includes a mutual drive for the simultaneous focusing of both eye-pieces, whereby both eye-pieces are connected non-positively with each other via a frictional clutch which slides through when a predetermined limiting torsional movement is exceeded. The binocular telescope combines such advantages of a central drive as, for instance, convenient and accurate setting, along with the advantages of diopter setting, namely accuracy and easy readability.
