A cassette with a recording medium, in particular a magnetic recording medium, is designed with a displaceable identification part which can be pushed into the cassette housing. For this purpose, a web is provided behind a cassette opening in a cassette wall, which web runs at an angle with respect to the cassette wall. It is also possible to provide a web which is approximately parallel to the cassette wall, and the identification part, designed as a slide, is provided with a front beveling, in the opening sliding direction, in order to push the slide partially past the edge of the cassette wall located in the opening direction. The cassette can be used for recording/reproducing signals of any type, and any functions of the associated cassette apparatus can be controlled indirectly by the positionally displaceable identification part.

A magnetic tape cassette is provided with a raised housing part. The conventional two-part housing of such a cassette is formed by essentially planar housing parts connected to one or more third separate housing parts which can be suitably connected to and/or can connect the planar housing parts. The position of the tape guide elements can be improved for all cassettes of this raised housing part type.

In a cassette for tape recording media, having a housing and one or more pegs which are molded as an integral part on the inner surface of the housing and help to determine the running of the tape recording medium, an accumulation of material arranged non-centrosymmetrically with respect to the mid-point of the base, for example an annular segment-like raised area and/or recess or support ribs having unequal volumes, is or are provided around the base of the peg, in order to set the predetermined vertical alignment of the peg. The peg can be, in particular, the spindle of a mobile tape guide element. A process for the production of such a peg by means of a special mold insert is likewise a subject of the invention. The invention can advantageously be used in all types of tape cassettes, such as film, audio, video, data and typewriter cassettes.

A container for cassettes is provided with at least one reinforcing edge substantially close to and parallel to back, front and/or side walls, and, if necessary, with reinforcing ribs between reinforcing edge and the adjacent wall. Ejection points for production of the container by injection molding are located along the reinforcing edge(s), for example at the connection points with the reinforcing ribs. The container can be used for any article having a substantially right parallelepiped shape.

A locking/unlocking means for cassettes, in particular those having swivel cover flaps, consists partially or completely of elastically deformable material and is pivotably mounted at two or more points. In the rest position of the locking/unlocking means, advantageously a swivel plate, an essentially tension-free arrangement is obtained by means of a supporting extension above the bearing axis, by actuation from outside, the said arrangement being converted in the operating state, without further spring elements, into a state of tension and into a position in which the supporting extension rests against the inside of an outer cassette wall and a reaction force corresponding to the actuating force is generated without any additional spring. Such a locking/unlocking means is suitable for cassettes of all types.

A recording medium possessing an envelope has at least one identification part which is mounted so that its position can be altered but it cannot be accidentally lost, and which is symmetrical about at least one axis, in particular a middle axis, and is associated with at least one wall of the envelope. To permit error-free assembly/handling, the identification part advantageously has a shape which permits at least two equivalent mounted positions on the envelope.

A hub/tape clamp arrangement for tape-like or strip-like articles consists of a recess in the peripheral edge of the hub, having one or more middle projections, and a tape clamp having the shape of an inverted W. In practice, wedge-shaped locking means between the projection and/or walls of the recess and the tape clamp may serve to retain the clamp and fix the tape. Steps at the ends of the recess, and extensions or steps in the hub recess which have been matched up in shape, increase the possibilities for monitoring/measuring dimensions. If the tape is fastened asymmetrically on one side, the tape clamp rises out of the recess on one side by a distance precisely the same as the tape thickness, so that the tape emerging from the recess is wound at the same level, i.e. the empty hub has a roughly screw-shaped peripheral contour. The hub can be designed for use with or without one or more flanges and is particularly useful for thin tapes, e.g. magnetic tapes.

A guide means for tapes to be transported, in particular in tape cassettes or tape apparatus, comprises a support element and a flexible guide strip, in particular one made of metal foil, fixed on this, and at least one holding element for the end sections of the flexible guide strip. The guide strip possesses a predetermined thickness and may be drop-shaped or pear-shaped in the operating position. The tape guide means may also comprise a support element whose surface is at least partially cylindrical and a flexible guide strip which is fastened thereon. As a separable unit which can be preassembled, the tape guide means can therefore also be employed for automatic manufacture. The tape guide means can be used for tape guides which are either stationary or movable within limits, in the field of tape-like recording media, such as films, magnetic tapes, punched tapes, etc.

The die platens mount half-mold parts of injection molds while the other half-mold parts are positioned on a prismatic support base which can be rotated around its axis between these half-mold parts and which is movable in the direction of the fixed spars. The movable die platen mounts movable spars along which the prismatic support base is guided in the area between the two die platens. On the rear face of the movable die platen which faces away from the support base is positioned at least one drive for the two movable spars, and the movable die platen includes at least one runner for plasticized material injected therein from a melting and injector unit.
