A key has a blade formed with a part-cylindrical face and with a pair of relatively shallow, outwardly open, and generally parallel but spaced grooves formed in the face extending generally longitudinally in a nonstraight path and a relatively deep and outwardly open groove formed in the face and extending generally longitudinally in a nonstraight path generally nonparallel to the shallow grooves. The grooves each have a plurality of control positions at which they extend substantially parallel to the blade and are inclined to the blade between the respective control positions. The control positions of the shallow grooves are transversely aligned and staggered relative to the control positions of the deep groove

High-security round key and lock therefor

A lock core rotatable in a housing is formed with an axially extending key passage, transverse guide slots, and an axially inwardly open bore. A bolt displaceable in the bore between a locked position and a unlocked position has radially open grooves aligned with the slots in the locked position. The inner bolt end can directly engage in an inwardly open seat formed in the housing or with a ball engageable in such a seat to lock the core in the housing. Tumbler plates in the slots are formed with control edges and holes alignable with the bore in a freeing position. The plates are displaceable into blocking positions with the holes offset at least partially from the bore and engaging in the respective grooves. A key has a plurality of respective bit notches engageable with the control edges on engagement of the key in the passage.

Cylinder lock with tumbler plates

A lock has a flat key having a flat blade extending along a key axis and having an axially extending edge formed to each side of a central axially extending key plane with a pair of axially extending inner edge surfaces flanking the key plane and each formed with a plurality of bits offset transversely at different spacings from the key axis. The bits on one side of the key plane are offset axially to the bits on the other side of the key plane as described above. A barrel having an inner surface centered on a lock axis holds a plug rotatable about the lock axis in the barrel, bisected by a plug plane including the lock axis, and formed with an axially extending and open key hole adapted to receive the key with the axes coaxial and the planes coplanar. A respective set of axially spaced tumblers is dis-placeable in the plug to each side of the plug plane parallel to the plug plane. The tumblers of one of the sets engage the key in the hole at locations offset axially from the tumblers of the other set. Respective springs urge the tumblers radially out-ward.

Flat-key lock

A key has a flat key body having a blade extending along a longitudinal insert axis and having a front edge formed with transversely directed bitting, an opposite longitudinally extending back edge, and a pair of oppositely directed faces. Each face is formed with at least two longitudinally extending front grooves extending adjacent the front edge a full length of the blade and having depths equal to more than half of a transverse thickness of the blade, a longitudinally extending back groove having a floor at a depth equal to less than half of the blade thickness, and an elongated angled groove extending at an acute angle to and across the respective back groove at an intersection and having a part-cylindrical floor aligned with and forming a smooth continuation of the floor of the respective back groove at the intersection. The angled groove of the one face extends nonparallel to the angled groove of the other face, that is axes of the angled grooves on one face are all parallel to each other and cross similar axes of the grooves on the other face.

Flat key

A flat key has a blade formed with bitting along at least one of its edges, with a pair of relatively shallow, outwardly open, and generally parallel but spaced grooves formed in at least one of its faces extending generally longitudinally in a nonstraight path from the tip, and with a relatively deep and outwardly open groove formed in the one face and extending generally longitudinally in a nonstraight path from the tip generally nonparallel to the shallow grooves. This key is used with a lock that has a relatively stationary lock housing containing a rotatable lock cylinder formed with an axially outwardly open flat passage shaped to snugly receive the key blade, and independent first and second slides displaceable in the cylinder generally of the axis and parallel to the one face of a key in the passage and provided with respective long and short formations engageable generally radially of the axis with the deep and shallow grooves. Thus the slides are shifted on insertion of the key by interengagement of the formations and the respective grooves. A lock element is displaceable in only one predetermined position of the slides between a position blocking rotation of the cylinder in the housing and a position permitting such rotation.

High-security flat key and lock therefor

A rotatable magnetic tumbler apparatus for a magnetic lock comprises at least one rotatable magnetic tumbler, whose rotary orientation is adjustable by a magnetic key corresponding to a preselected magnetic code, and which is contactable by a contacting element of the lock. The rotatable magnetic tumbler is movable in the direction of the rotation axis of the tumbler, and the contacting element is suitably mounted in the magnetic lock for making contact with the rotatable magnetic tumbler in a predetermined position on the rotation axis.

Rotatable magnetic tumbler and magnetic lock containing same

A lock cylinder comprises a cylinder housing and a cylinder core having at least one rotatable magnetic tumbler supported therein, in which at least one axially slidable locking element is provided. The locking element has projections thereon directed toward the exterior. The locking element has a contacting slider having contacting elements projecting toward the rotatable magnetic tumblers, and a locking slider engaged with and fit together with the contacting slider, on which are mounted the projections. The lock cylinder is also provided with a pressing member fixed with respect to the cylinder housing, by which the locking element in the O-position of the cylindrical core is held against the force of a compressible spring engaged to the locking element, and is pushed into an unlocking position on rotation of the cylindrical core.

Lock cylinder with rotatable magnetic tumblers

The lock cylinder comprises a cylinder housing and a cylinder core having at least one rotatable magnetic tumbler supported therein, wherein in the cylinder core at least one axially slidable bolt member is provided, whose slidability is controlled by the rotatable magnetic tumblers. The bolt member has two control tips positioned at opposite ends thereof, which are guided with two control surfaces mounted, so as to be nonrotatable with respect to the cylinder housing and positioned opposing each other. Thus a positively actuated control of the bolt member is provided, which is independent of the sliding force, which would be provided by a spring. One of the control tips is slidable against an elastic restoring force, whereby, after a certain limiting force has been exceeded, a relative displacement between the control surfaces of the bolt member occurs so that a subsequent rotation of the cylinder core without collateral axial displacement of the bolt member is made possible.

Disclosed are cylinder lock arrangements which include a rotatable cylinder plug provided with recesses for guiding in axial direction blocking bars which cooperate with the cylinder housing to prevent in a blocking position thereof the rotation of the plug. The blocking bars are formed with blind bores which in a releasing axial position of the bars communicate with a key channel. The blind bores accommodate segmented pin tumblers which are controlled by control recesses on a lateral wall of a key so that upon the insertion of a correct key the separation planes of the segments of the pin tumblers coincide with the separation plane between the blocking bar and the clyinder plug. The key for the lock of this invention has a profile defined by alternating longitudinal ribs and longitudinal grooves whereby the crest regions of the ribs are formed with the control recesses arranged at different levels in accordance with the segments of the pin tumblers.

Arrangement for cylinder locks

An improvement for a safety lock is provided which is especially useful in a double cylinder lock having a longitudinally split lock web ring, wherein the ring has a releasable interlocking connection in the form of a hinge at one side and a pair of radially extending pegs on an opposite side which can be clamped together by a retainer in the form of a washer or a clamp to secure the two halves together. If a washer is used, the pegs may have to be swedged over, but if a clamp is used in the form of a resilient member surrounding a portion of the lock ring, no swedging is required.

Safety lock

A closure device has a cylinder core turnable in a housing and a key insertable into a key channel in the core. A ball provided in a circumferential groove in the inner wall of the housing cooperates with an edge portion of the key. A pin is arranged in the same plane and 180.degree. away from the ball.

Locking device and key

A control device for a magnetic cylindrical lock having a cylindrical housing and a cylindrical plug disposed for rotational and axial movements in the housing, comprises a longitudinal bore in the plug, magnetic rotary members arranged for rotation across the longitudinal bore, and arresting means for blocking the rotation of the plug in one axial position of the latter and for permitting the rotary movement in another axial position.

Control device for cylinder locks

The cylinder lock includes, in addition to conventional segmented tumbler pins, auxiliary tumbler elements movable at an oblique angle relative to the keyway and being engageable at one end into arresting recesses in the housing; the other end of the auxiliary tumbler cooperates with a camming surface on a feeler pin, the end of which projects into the keyway and is controlled by corresponding recesses provided on lateral sides of the key.

Lock having a cylinder core and a housing

A lock system has a master-only lock which can be opened only by a master key and a subordinate lock which can be opened by a subordinate key and a master key. The master-key slot of the master-only lock is formed with a plurality of parallel longitudinally extending and inwardly projecting guide ridges and a plurality of parallel longitudinally extending and inwardly open variable recesses interleaved with and parallel to the guide ridges. The master key is complementarily shaped. The subordinate lock has guide ridges and variable recesses identical to that of the master-only lock, and in addition is formed with further variable recesses in which fit corresponding further ridges on the subordinate key. Thus, the subordinate key is of larger cross-sectional area than the master key so that it cannot fit into the master lock. The various guide ridges provided in all the locks and variable recesses which change from lock to lock are interleaved with each other to discourage machining of a subordinate key down into a master key.

A control device for a magnetic cylindrical lock having a cylindrical housing and a cylindrical plug disposed for rotational and axial movements in the housing, comprises a longitudinal boring in the plug, magnetic rotary members arranged for rotation across the longitudinal boring, and arresting means for blocking the rotation of the plug in one axial position of the latter and for permitting the rotary movement in another axial position.
