Methods, apparatus, and systems for fabricating diffractive structures on gemstones for high optical performance are provided. In one aspect, a method includes obtaining a plurality of gemstone characteristics of a gemstone, determining that the gemstone exhibits each of the plurality of gemstone characteristics within a respective predetermined range, identifying a diffractive structure setting associated with a combination of the respective predetermined ranges for the plurality of gemstone characteristics, and fabricating diffractive structures on the gemstone according to the diffractive structure setting.

Fabricating diffractive structures on gemstones for high optical performance

A gemstone cleaning and analysis system and a method for cleaning and analyzing one or more gemstones using the system. The system includes a platform and an automated positioning system connected to the platform. The automated positioning system selects a gemstone from a plurality of gemstones, deposits the gemstone onto a cleaning stand connected to the platform, cleans at least one side of the gemstone by rubbing at least one side of the gemstone with at least one cleaning tool, and moves the gemstone to a gemstone imaging device connected to the platform. The gemstone imaging device has a plate, and the automated positioning system deposits the gemstone onto the plate. The gemstone imaging device identifies the gemstone. The automated positioning system moves the gemstone to a holding plate that is connected to the platform and deposits the gemstone at a particular location of the holding plate.

Gemstone handling and analysis system

A gemstone positioning fixture, including a base and a cover plate applied over the base. The cover plate has apertures, one for each gem to be worked on. At least one biasing member is positioned beneath the plate. The biasing member applies an upward force to the gems to contact the cover plate. The plate is formed of materials that conduct electricity, so as to conduct any charged particles away from the gem work surface.

Gemstone positioning fixture

A gemstone viewer for personal communications devices for viewing a gemstone surface on which has been formed an image or inscription such as an identification number. In one embodiment, the viewer is mounted to employ the camera and LED light source of the personal communications device. The viewer directs the light from the light source as a light beam along a path incident to the surface of the gemstone containing the inscription. The gemstone spectrally reflects the light beam along a path back toward and through a magnifying lens to the camera lens of the personal communications device thereby enhancing the magnifying properties of the camera lens to produce a viewable light image that reveals the inscription on the viewing screen of the personal communications device. In another embodiment, the viewer is aligned to the front facing camera of the personal communications device, and includes its own light source.

The lens reflects the light beam along a path incident to the surface of the gemstone containing the inscription. The smooth gemstone surface specularly reflects the light beam along a path back toward the magnifying lens, which produces a viewable light image that reveals the inscription. The inscription is shown as a combination of darkened or lightened areas, lines and characters given the reduction or absence of light reflected, or highlighted by the reflection of light.

Engraved gemstone viewer

The present invention is an engraved gemstone viewer for viewing a flat, smooth surface of a gemstone that has been micro or nano etched with an inscription such as an identification number. The gemstone is mounted on a piece of jewelry or can remain unmounted when placed inside or otherwise received by the viewer. A source of light directs a light beam toward a magnifying lens coated with a reflection enhancing coating. The lens reflects the light beam along a path incident to the surface of the gemstone containing the inscription. The smooth flat gemstone surface spectrally reflects the light beam along a path back toward the magnifying lens, which produces a viewable light image that reveals the inscription. The inscription is shown as a dark or lightless region of the light image.

A viewer for gemstones allowing a person to view the light performance of a gemstone having a 360-degree light unit positioned above a base where the stone is placed. The light unit is attached to an adjustable mounting bracket which allows the bracket and light unit to move vertically through use of a control mechanism. The base allows for secure and consistent placement of the gemstone, and positioning of a light control structure, preferably made from a reflective material, over the stone. The position of the stone is under the center of the light unit and light control structure. The light control structure has an aperture to allow the light from the light unit to enter.

Viewer for gemstones

A security system for monitoring movement of persons in a secured area including set openings which includes area and opening monitors, tag units and an alarm system. The tag unit has special end clamp members which securely clamp an attachment strap to a housing for attaching the unit to a person. Tampering with the connection creates an alarm state. The tag unit includes a dual transmitter continuously transmitting very low frequency (VLF) signal and transmitting a very high frequency (VHF or UHF) signal only if the tag unit is tampered with. The opening monitor includes VLF receivers responsive to a VLF signal and transmitting an alarm signal to an opening alarm system to prevent unauthorized exit. Authorized personnel have a deactivation unit for timed receiver disabling for moving the person through the opening. The UHF transmitter is activated upon unauthorized tampering with the attached tag. A bank response alarm includes a plurality of distributed VHF or UHF receivers which responds to the VHF or UHF signal of any tag unit. A deactivation control is provided to authorized personnel to permit attachment and removal of the tag unit. Other interlocks may be provided including visual and/or audible alarms, tag identification and, data recording.
