A liquid separator removing a liquid from a sample of a breathing gas flowing through an airway adapter having a channel surrounded by a wall is disclosed herein. The separator includes a chamber receiving the sample, and a membrane having an outer surface exposed to the gas flow, the membrane at least partially surrounding the chamber, which membrane separates the liquid received by the chamber. The separator also includes a supporting structure for supporting the membrane, and a connector operationally attached to the supporting structure, the connector being connectable to the adapter. The connector comprises a cavity providing a flow path for the sample from the chamber through an opening of the cavity to a sample tube. The membrane branches from a central part of the channel into at least two different branches extending to different directions.

An airway adapter comprising a flow channel configured to carry a respiratory gas, and a body comprising a surface at least partially coated with a luminophore that is excited by received radiation, wherein the luminophore emits luminescent radiation indicative of oxygen concentration of the respiratory gas when the luminophore is in contact with the respiratory gas, wherein the body comprises a transparent radiation path surrounded by the surface, the body being configured to guide at least one of the received radiation and the luminescent radiation emitted by the luminophore.

Airway adapter and gas analyzer for measuring oxygen concentration of a respiratory gas

A gas analyzer for measuring at least two components of a gas is disclosed herein. The gas analyzer comprising an emitter configured to emit infrared radiation through the gas, a filter assembly configured to permit a transmission of predetermined wavelengths emitted by the emitter, and a detector configured to receive wavelengths emitted by the emitter and penetrated through the filter assembly. The filter assembly comprises at least two tunable narrowband interference filters in series, each of the filters comprising two dielectric mirrors and an air space between the two dielectric mirrors to tune one of the filters to different transmission band than another of the filters.

Gas analyzer for measuring at least two components of a gas

A non-dispersive single beam detection assembly in an infrared gas analyzer. The detection assembly comprises radiation source(s) providing infrared radiation, a measuring chamber, and a physical beam splitter for dividing said radiation beam into a reflected beam portion and a transmitted beam portion, or for combining a reflected beam portion and a transmitted beam portion into said radiation beam. A measuring detector receives one beam portions, and a reference detector receives another beam portion. Alternatively a measuring/reference detector receives both beam portions. Said transmitted beam portion has a first spectral intensity peak at shorter wavelengths with a first peak wavelength, and said reflected beam portion has a second spectral intensity peak at longer wavelengths with a second peak wavelength. There is a wavelength gap between said second peak wavelength and said first peak wavelength, which gap corresponds a wavelength shift of an optical interference filter with said second peak wavelength as tilted from its perpendicular position to an angled position. Said wavelength gap is at maximum 10% of the second peak wavelength, and at minimum 0.5% of the second peak wavelength.

Simplified beam splitter for IR gas sensor

An arrangement for improving an accuracy of a pressure measurement made of a breathing gas including drops of water or humidity flowing along a flow channel is disclosed herein. The arrangement includes at least one pressure measuring channel to transmit a pressure of the breathing gas flowing along the flow channel to a measuring device to make the pressure measurement. The pressure measuring channel is equipped with a capillary material enabling capillary suctioning of water. Also a flow sensor for a flow rate measurement of a breathing gas including drops of water or humidity is provided.

A radiation source assembly and transducer incorporating same are suitable for use in measuring spectral absorption properties of a substance to be analyzed, such as a gas. The radiation source assembly has an optical axis. A measuring radiation source provides radiation in the direction of the axis and a reference radiation source provides radiation in the direction of the axis. An optical diffuser is spaced from the radiation sources along the axis. Radiation from the measuring radiation source and radiation from the reference radiation source are applied to the diffuser and the diffuser forms an exiting radiation beam for the assembly from the radiation of the measuring radiation source and reference radiation source. The exiting radiation beam extends along the axis. In at least a portion of a cross-section of the exiting radiation beam taken perpendicular to the axis, the configuration of the distribution of the radiation from each of the sources as seen by a detector in generally the same so that the operation of the radiation source assembly resembles that of a single-path photometer. The transducer further includes the detector for receiving the exiting radiation beam after it has passed through the substance. The assembly and transducer may also include optical collecting and concentrating devices for directing radiation to the detector.

The invention relates to an additional feature for use in a measuring sensor which is used for analyzing mediums spectroscopically. The measuring sensor comprises: a radiation source (1), emitting radiation which travels through a first window (3a) of a sample chamber (2), an absorption length (L1) and further a second window (3b) of the sample chamber (2), the sample chamber being provided, if necessary, with flow connections for a gas mixture; at least done detector (9), which is optically directed towards the second window; at least one optical filter (8), which is permeable to a certain wavelength band, or a radiation dispersion device between the radiation source and the detector. Between the first sample chamber window and the radiation source, the feature comprises a length (L2) and/or, between the second window and the detector, a length (L3), totalling at least about 20% of the absorption length. The length (L2) between an inner surface (13a) of the first sample chamber window and the radiation source and/or the length (L3) between an inner surface (13b) of the second window and the detector or, respectively, detectors are constituted over substantially all other sections of the radiation path, except those in alignment with possible accessories, by a solid material (7) transmissive to the applied radiation wavelengths. This material is preferably homogeneous at least in the direction transverse to a main radiating direction (R).

Radiation sources (38), emit measuring radiation with at least two wavelengths to a portion (6) of the body of a patient. Non-invasive optical measuring sensor and measuring method

A measuring device for determining the concentration of such gas components from a gas mixture, which includes collision dilation of the absorption lines constituting the absorption spectral bands for measuring objects. The device comprises a non-dispersive concentration measuring sensor (20), which includes: a measuring chamber (6) containing a gas mixture to be analyzed; a radiation source (17) for emitting over a wavelength range which includes an absorption spectral band used in concentration determination; a detector (18) receiving radiation that has passed through the measuring chamber and for producing a first signal (7) therefrom; as well as an optical bandpass filter (16) positioned between the detector and the radiation source.
