A flat CRT display tube has a faceplace (11) with a fluorescent pixel screen (33) on its interior face. An area cathode assembly has an orthogonal array of segment electrodes (27) with overlying heater wires (25) spaced above them. A control assembly (38) arrayed between the cathode assembly and the screen includes orthogonal arrays of row electrodes (20) and column electrodes (21) with an overlying anode (19). A frame (18) supports the cathode assembly and the control assembly, and is itself supported by the tube's envelope, preferably by its faceplate (11).

The covering (13) of a printing roller (10) for transferring hot glue printing material from a printing block to the front panel of a display consists of cast silicone rubber without any silicone fluid. The use of silicone-fluid-free silicone rubber ensures that the printing materials will adhere well to the panel even in a sequence of printings, because the adhesion properties of the panel will not have been reduced by silicone fluid that would otherwise have been transferred from the roller to the panel. Although the roller covering is devoid of silicone fluid as stripping agent, the printing material nevertheless separates readily from the covering, because the latter is cast and therefore has a very smooth surface.

Method of manufacturing a control subassembly for flat display devices

The invention relates to a flat display device with a faceplate (1) having either an outward curvature or bulging inwards under the action of atmospheric pressure, the device also comprising a planar deflection device (8) to deflect the electron beams (13, 14) in each line. With a view to obtaining a pure-color image, the deflection voltages are corrected according to the particular distance between the deflection device (8) and the faceplate (1), thereby ensuring that the electron beams (13, 14) will impinge only on the appropriate equidistant phosphor dots or strips (4). The formula for calculating the correction factor (K) is stated.

Flat display device

In a flat picture-reproducing device having a phosphor-coated faceplate (1) and a tray-shaped rear housing (2), a cathode formed by a periodic array of heating wires (7) is provided. This heating-wire array is followed by layers of focusing wires (8) and attracting wires (9) and by a perforated anode (5). A segmented counterelectrode (6) is located behind the heating wires (7).

Flat picture-reproducing device

Control plates in flat picture-reproducing devices are located between the cathode and the screen and serve to control the electron flow. Control plates are formed of layers of metal conductors having overlying openings. The width of the openings decreases with depth from both surfaces of the conductors. The openings can be formed by pairs of juxtaposed recesses formed in the sides of adjacent conductors.

Control plate for picture-reproducing devices

A video reproducing device having a flat screen loosely placed in a mounting frame. The flat screen supports an elastic safety sheet affixed thereto for providing implosion protection if the flat screen shatters. A space is created between the frame and the flat screen for accommodating a sealing compound and a thin glass plate protects the safety sheet from external objects.
