A two-layer ceramic composite material, wherein the first predominantly load-bearing layer is an oxidic, carbon-free fiber-reinforced ceramic layer which is made by a colloidal process. The second predominantly thermally insulating layer is an oxide-ceramic foam. The colloidal process produces carbon-free oxide ceramics which, because of their high purity, have low dielectric losses in the entire usage temperature range. In addition, the colloidal process provides a simple and cost-effective production method.

In a sensor system including Doppler radar, a radiometer and circuits for comparing the target information received by the two devices, a receiving mixer comprising a mixer oscillator is employed both for transmitting the CW Doppler radar emission signal and for transforming the frequency of the returning radar echo and radiometer signal. At the output of the mixer, the Doppler signal is obtained as a low-frequency signal and the radiometer signal as an IF signal, so that both can easily be separated and individually processed. The radiometer signal is checked only for a jump in the noise temperature. With such a jump present and if simultaneously a radar target is detected, the presence of a metallic target is inferred.

In a microwave transceiver including a dielectric antenna and a self-oscillating semiconductor mixer stage for both generating a microwave signal to be transmitted via the antenna and mixing that microwave signal with reflected microwave signal components received by the antenna, the mixer stage being composed of a nonlinear microwave diode connected to give the stage a negative impedance to permit oscillation and to effect mixing, and a half-wavelength disc-type resonator providing a resonant circuit for the oscillator and having the form of a stripline piece element composed of two strip conductors between which the microwave diode is electrically conductively connected, the antenna being disposed on one of the strip conductors, the resonator and antenna are constructed to be axially symmetrical and are positioned coaxially to one another.

Microwave transceiver, particularly for a doppler radar system

A semiconductor oscillator circuit for very short waves, particularly for UHF, employing the stripline technique and utilizing capacitive voltage division in order to provide feedback. The stripline technique is employed at least, for all the discrete frequency determining (capacitive and inductive) components of the circuit and for the feedback path of the circuit. The series connection of the two capacitors forming the capacitive voltage divider is connected in parallel with a further capacitor, formed in stripline technique, whose capacitance lies in the same order of magnitude as that of one of the capacitors of the capacitive voltage divider and the two capacitors which have the same order of magnitude in capacitance are formed by two conductor electrodes which are parallel to each other at a very small mutual distance with respect to their geometric dimensions, which have a length and width corresponding to their capacitance, and which have a common return electrode.
