An approach is provided for removing information from image data using markers. As used herein, the term 'marker' refers to a physical object included in an image of one or more objects when the image is captured. Markers are used to identify, either directly, indirectly, or both, information to be removed from image data. The approach is applicable to any type of information, such as information that identifies one or more individuals, referred to herein as 'identifying information.'

Removing identifying information from image data on computing devices using markers

A reference image of one or more objects is displayed on the display of a mobile device in a manner that allows a user of the mobile device to simultaneously view the reference image and a preview image of the one or more objects currently in a field of view of a camera of the mobile device. An indication is provided to the user of the mobile device whether the camera of the mobile device is currently located within a specified amount of a distance at which the reference image was acquired. In response to a user request, the camera acquires a second image of the one or more objects and optionally a distance between the camera and the one or more objects at the time the second image was acquired is recorded. An image management application provides various functionalities for accessing and managing image sequences.

Image acquisition and management

Several approaches are provided for processing audio data to generate transcription data that is supplemented with visual content items. The visual content items may be any type of data that may vary depending upon a particular implementation. Examples of visual content items include, without limitation, images, videos, symbols, etc. Embodiments include adding visual content items to transcription data based upon user input, specialized keywords contained in the transcription data and various correspondences with the audio data, including time-based correspondence and correspondences based upon a common user, storage location or logical entity.

Image acquisition and management using a reference image

An approach is provided for measuring objects in images of scenes using measurement markers. An image editor retrieves and displays an image of a scene that includes an object of interest and a reference object having a known actual size in the scene in at least one dimension. A user of the image editor overlays a measurement marker on the object of interest in the displayed image. The image editor image editor determines a display size in the image editor of the at least one dimension of the reference object and a display size in the image editor of at least one dimension of the measurement marker. The image editor determines and displays an actual size in the scene of the at least one dimension of the measurement marker. Embodiments allow a user to adjust the scale of the reference object.

Automatic measurement of objects in images

An approach for electronic information collaboration allows the use of a mobile device to cause electronic information to be displayed on one or more projector display devices via a virtual projector. The use of a virtual projector allows electronic information to be displayed on multiple projector display devices and/or client devices. The approach may also include the use of collaboration clients and a collaboration server to provide additional functionality with respect to the electronic information including, for example, the ability for changes made to electronic information at one location to be propagated to another location. The approach also allows a mobile device to be used to establish a videoconferencing session between two or more videoconferencing sites. The approach may include generation and use of a locations map that displays icons that correspond to videoconferencing sites and that may be selected to establish a connection between videoconferencing sites.

Electronic information collaboration system

Techniques described herein overcome many of the issues that have previously made the printing of a single copy of a book from a digital version unattractive and infeasible. According to one embodiment of the invention, an automated mechanism such as a computer program automatically determines whether the spine thickness of a to-be-printed copy of a digital version of a book will exceed the specified maximum spine thickness that a specified binding or other finishing device can handle. In response to determining that the spine thickness will exceed the specified maximum spine thickness, the automated mechanism automatically splits the digital version of the book into two or more volumes such that, for each volume, the spine thickness of the printed version of that volume will be no greater than the specified maximum spine thickness that the specified binding or other finishing device can handle.

Creating and manufacturing documents that initially exceed equipment finishing capacity

A multi-layer workflow architecture for a print shop is disclosed. The workflow architecture includes a workflow front end, service bus, and service providers. The workflow front end provides an interface to print shop operators. The service providers are each associated with a device in the print shop. The service bus represents the layer between the workflow front end and the service providers. In operation, the service providers report device capabilities for devices to the service bus. The workflow front end receives the device capabilities from the service bus, and provides the device capabilities to a user to allow the user to define a job ticket based on the device capabilities. The service bus identifies the processes defined in the job ticket, and identifies the service providers operable to provide the processes. The service bus then routes process messages to the identified service providers to execute the processes on the devices.

Multi-layer print workflow architecture job ticket generation utilizing user selectable real-time device capabilities

According to techniques described herein, print job attributes are checked to identify potential conflicts and potential invalid settings. According to one embodiment of the invention, a job setting manager process executing on a printing device is configured to examine and store print job attributes as detected by print interpreter modules. According to an embodiment of the invention, the job setting manager maintains a data structure comprising print job attributes, their values, and other information. As each interpreter module detects a job setting in the print data, the job setting manager receives this setting and its value and checks the data structure to identify conflicts between previously-set job attributes and whether the requested job attribute is supported by the destination printing device. According to an embodiment of the invention, if a conflict is identified, a notification is produced.

'Proof print' for job settings

In an embodiment, a document processing application selects, based on an objective for a print job, one or more document processing devices and/or one or more parameter values for processing the print job. The objective may be selected by a user. Examples of objectives for a print job include fastest time to process the print job, the lowest cost to process the print job, the least amount of labor required to process the print job, the lowest cost of labor required to process the print job, and the highest quality finished product. The print job is sent to a printing device and a finishing device, one or both of which may have been selected, based on the objective, by the application. Any selected parameter values (whether selected by the application, or manually selected) are sent to the appropriate document processing device.

Print options for productivity

In an embodiment, a method comprises, in a print application management computer program that enables a user to generate a printed application using one or more document processing devices: identifying a plug-in that extends one or more capabilities of the print application management computer program; extending the print application management computer program to include the identified plug-in, including reconfiguring a graphical user interface of the print application management computer program to include one or more GUI widgets associated with the identified plug-in.

In an embodiment, a computer-implemented method comprises receiving an application identifier value associated with a printed application; receiving a media size; receiving a machine identifier value associated with a first document processing machine; determining programming instructions for a second document processing machine based on said received application identifier value, media size, and machine identifier value.

Techniques are provided for billing a customer for printing services based on the type of document printed. Types of documents may include business cards, books, postcards, photographs, marketing materials, word processing documents, etc. Thus, for example, each photograph is billed at a different rate than each business card.
