An endoscopic stitching machine, including a housing for mounting the actuators for the stitch-forming tools (needle, gripper and pressure pad), and a housing shaft to house one or more devices for the transmission of the movements generated by the actuators to the stitch-forming tools, whereby the housing shaft () and the transmission devices () are divided into two shaft parts () and lower and upper transmission devices (and), in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction thereof, detachably connected to each other by means of a corresponding coupling piece (), whereby the coupling pieces () may be introduced into and positively housed within corresponding recesses () of the lower and upper transmission means (and), parallel to the section plane and running in the longitudinal direction of the transmission devices ().

Endoscopic stitching machine

An endoscopic suturing machine is provided with a housing, with a housing upper part () for accommodating drives (and) for the stitch-forming tools (), with a housing shaft () adjoining same for accommodating a device for transmitting the movements generated by the drives (and) to the stitch-forming tools (). The forming tools include at least a needle () and a shuttle (), which cooperates with the needle. The shuttle or looper can be moved after grasping the thread loop along a multidimensional path of movement from its position which is located under the material being sewn and grasps the thread loop into a position which is located above the material being sewn and in which the thread triangle formed by the thread loop led onto the upper side of the material being sewn surrounds the projection of the path of the needle (FIG.).

Surgical suturing machine

A suturing apparatus to suture tissue edges to each other includes an oscillating needle and a loop catcher cooperating with the needle to form stitches. Two-legged forceps are provided to brace the tissue edges in the vicinity of the needle path transverse to the tissue edges. The forceps are movable to a closed position for holding together the tissue edges before the needle pierces them and, upon the ensuing exit of the needle from the tissue edges, an opened position to release the tissue edges. Furthermore, advancing tongs with two legs are provided for gripping the tissue edges directly on the other side of the forceps in a closed position and, in an open position, to release the tissue edges. The tongs are also shifted during each open phase of the forceps during a movement of the tissue in an advancement direction from an initial position into a closed position and, during each closed phase of the forceps, to their open position in a direction opposite the direction of advancement and back into the initial position.

Suturing apparatus

A suturing apparatus for connecting tissue edges using a single-thread overcast stitch arrangement incorporates an arc needle and a forked rocking gripper provided at an end of a gripper rod that passes through an aperture in the front wall of the apparatus housing. The needle and the gripper are driven in a rocking motion and cooperate to form the stitches with the arc needle transversely piercing the tissue edges and the gripper being displaceable along an arcuate path over the tissue edges. The gripper rod passes through the front wall of the apparatus housing at which it is connected through a universal joint. The gripper rod is displaceable inside the apparatus housing along a path that is symmetrical to the arcuate path of the rocking gripper.

A sewing machine with an upper transport mechanism includes an arrangement with a pressing foot and a transport foot wherein the mass accelerations due to the movement of these members is reduced. A triangular lever member is provided with lever arms 34b, 34c which are linked with the presser foot and upper transport foot. The triangular lever member is linked so as to be angularly movable to an extent of the respective lever arms. Connecting rods of the presser foot and the upper transport foot are connected to the lever arms and are driven thereby. The movement of the connecting rods and the lever arms reduces the mass force of the respective transport foot and the presser foot. To further reduce the mass forces, the upper transport foot and the presser foot are spring loaded with respect to respective carrying elements of the upper transport foot and presser foot so that a damping action occurs.

The needle bar drive of a counterbalanced sewing machine comprises, in addition to a counterbalance weight connected to the driving crank, a second counterbalance weight which is driven in opposition thereto through a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism comprises an intermediate shaft which rotates at a double speed relative to the armshaft and carries and drives a third counterbalance weight.

The sewing machine includes a drive shaft which is rotatably mounted in a housing and is connected to a needle to reciprocate the needle at a stitching area in order to effect sewing of material. A fan blade or impeller is affixed to the main shaft for rotation therewith, and it rotates in a chamber in the housing and is constructed with a central inlet opening to pull in air centrally and to discharge it radially downwardly into a lower extension below the oil pan of the sewing machine. The lower extension includes a plurality of ribs extending downwardly from the bottom wall of the oil pan which forms heat exchanger surfaces over which air from the blower is directed. The heat exchange surfaces are arranged in the form of longitudinally extending ribs which extend substantially parallel to the shaft and they define air flow channels therebetween.

Sewing machine with a cooling system

A sewing machine for sewing and feeding material has a rotatable main shaft in a housing which is connected to drive a reciprocating needle for reciprocation in a stitching area. Adjacent the needle is a presser rod which depends from the housing and a carrier is mounted on the rod for upward and downward movement and is biassed downwardly so as to press a feed roller rotatably mounted on the carrier against the material to be fed. A drive mechanism for the feed roller is mounted on a bracket extending outwardly from the housing, and it includes a rotatable drive gear which is driven intermittently through an oscillation mechanism driven from the main shaft. A substantially triangular rocker member is pivotally mounted on the same axis as the drive wheel, and it supports two spaced apart guide rollers over which a drive belt is guided. The drive belt is connected to the gear drive wheel and to a gearwheel on the feed roller to rotate the feed roller intermittently. The construction includes a coupling rod connected between the carrier and the rocker which is adjustable in length. The gear belt, which is guided around the uppermost one of the guide rollers defines an engagement angle around the roller which has a bisector which intersects the longitudinal axis of the coupling rod in a substantially horizontal plane. The driving arrangement is such that the lifting force produced by the belt pull during the drive of the feed roller is substantially eliminated.

A sewing machine having a rotatable main shaft connected to a needle to reciprocate it includes an impeller or air fan which has a hub portion which is connectable to the main shaft of the sewing machine for rotation thereby. The impeller housing also includes a plurality of radially extending fans defining air flow passages therebetween and a central axially extending tubular inlet forming the inlet for inward axial flow and then radial outward flow and peripheral discharge for circulation of the air through a cooling chamber defined in the sewing machine below the oil pan housing part. The impeller also includes an exterior groove around the tubular part which defines a pulley for a V-belt so that the impeller may function as a drive for the shaft. In addition, a hand wheel is secured around the periphery of the tubular part to facilitate hand rotation of the shaft. The hand wheel advantageously includes an opening aligned with the opening of the impeller for the inflow of air therethrough.

A sewing machine includes a housing having an oil pan portion defining an oil reservoir with a filter supported on a wall of the sewing machine housing in a position above the reservoir. A pump is employed to direct the lubricating oil upwardly through a pipe connection into the top of the filter and a portion of the oil which is pumped is circulated through a small size tube in a continuous manner such that it is deflected against a viewing glass at the top of the sewing machine and drops down into the operating mechanism contained in the sewing machine housing. In addition, a portion of the oil which is pumped into the filter passes through a removable filter cartridge and into the interior of the filter. Before it is passed to any of the bearing parts of the main shaft, it is directed through a top opening in an upstanding pipe of an insert in the filter and downwardly through the pipe at the interior of the filter after having been filtered by passing through the filter material of the filter from the outside part of the filter housing and is then fed under pressure to the various bearing surfaces. The filter housing also includes a drain opening at the lower end thereof which is arranged so that it is closed by insertion of a filter with an annular sealing cap and its sealing member so that it covers the drain opening when the filter element is in an operative position inserted in the filter housing. When oil is to be drained, the filter element is removed upwardly to uncover the drain opening first so that little, if any, unfiltered oil will be able to move downwardly through the pipe having the inlet for the force feeding of the bearings.

A multineedle clamp for sewing machines, comprises a needle clamp body which has a plurality of spaced parallel needle receiving bores defined therein, with a web portion defined between each two adjacent bores. A pressing screw is threaded into the needle clamp body from one side and bears against a needle positioned in the adjacent needle receiving bore to bias it in a direction against the web. The needle receiving clamp body also includes a transverse bore extending into the body at substantially right angles to the pressing screw which carries a resilient pad member which is biased against the peripheries of two adjacent needles at the locations where the bores thereof are separated by the web and open into the laterally extending bore. The webs may be formed as resilient elements joined to the needle clamp body and the crossbore receiving the resilient member advantageously opens into a third bore which extends parallel to the two adjacent needle bores and which intersects their circumference such that an arcuate portion of each needle bore communicates with the passage containing the resilient member.

A device on a sewing machine for severing thread chains comprises a driven movable cutting knife which has a cutting edge disposed to move in a path in which it is spaced from a stationary counterknife. The driven knife is continuously rotated during the ordinary sewing operation, and when cutting is to be effected, the thread chain is directed so that it is moved over the counterknife to place it in a deflection position in the path of movement of the movable cutting knife and cause the movable cutting knife to move in a path in which it comes into the range of cooperative interengagement with the stationary counterknife.

A sewing machine, comprises a sewing machine head with a needle bar bushing supported in the head and a needle bar engaged in the bushing for upward and downward axial movement. The sewing machine includes an oil pan below the head and a scraping wick is engaged around the bar in the bushing and bears against a reabsorbing wick which extends from the scraping wick to the oil pan. The head is advantageously provided with a head cover which covers a recess having a pad which engages against the reabsorbing wick and biases it into contact with the scraping wick. In addition, the construction includes an additional wick which extends in an axial direction from a location above the scraping wick to a location at the lowermost end of the bushing and it is located between separated ends of the scraping wick and provides an oil-conducting connection with the scraping wick.
