The implant kit for stabilizing regions of a spine employs a plurality of fixing bands which are at least similar to one another and stabilizing elements which are adapted to be secured to the bands. Each fixing band is provided with bores at the opposite ends for securement to a spondyle as well as trough-like recesses in an intermediate portion for receiving the stabilizing elements and/or a correcting instrument. The components can be used for all regions of a spine.

Implant kit for stabilizing regions of a spine

The acetabulum has a metal outer shell and a plastic cup within the shell. The outer shell is in the shape of a frustum and at least three plugs extend from about the periphery of the base of the shell for implanting in a hip bone. Each plug has an expandable portion provided with circular toothing and is expandable by a pin which becomes locked in place after expanding the plug within the hip bone.

Prosthetic acetabulum

The metal anchoring part, in one embodiment, has a flat bearing surface to receive a synthetic tibial endoprosthesis part as well as a parallel tibial plateau from which anchoring rails project. The anchoring rails are slidably mounted within guide bores in a tibia to permit sliding of the anchoring part in the ventral/dorsal direction. In addition, a lock-like latch is provided in each rail to permit securement of the anchoring part in a tibia after placement. The anchoring part may be made as a half part for mounting on the medial or lateral part of a tibia or as a full part. A rotatable bolt may also be mounted in a pair of aligned rails to expand expandable rings secured to the tibial plateau for securing the part to the spongiosa of the tibia.

Metal anchoring part for a knee joint endoprosthesis

The stem of the cephalic femoral component of a hip prosthesis is bounded by two pairs of longitudinally extending surfaces including two relatively wide and two relatively narrow surfaces. At least one of the narrow surfaces is convex, all of the surfaces taper in a direction toward a rounded tip of the stem, the radius of curvature of the convex surface or surfaces decreases in a direction toward the tip, and the wider surfaces taper toward each other in a direction from the one toward the other narrower surface. This reduces the likelihood of loosening of the stem in the medullar canal of the femur wherein the stem is implanted without cement, and the bone around the stem is less likely to be subjected to excessive localized stresses.

Prosthesis of the hip

A pneumatic impact tool wherein a two-stage piston is reciprocable in the two-stage chamber of a cylinder. The tool which is to penetrate into a bone is mounted in the front portion of the cylinder and the piston strikes against such front portion in response to admission of compressed air against its rear end face. A relatively small annular shoulder of the piston faces forwardly and is continuously acted upon by compressed air. When the piston approaches or reaches the end of its forward stroke and rebounds from the front end portion of the cylinder, it seals the source of compressed air from its rear end face so that the action of compressed air upon the shoulder suffices to propel the piston rearwardly against the rear end portion of the cylinder at which time the piston reestablishes a path for the flow of compressed air against its rear end face so that it is propelled forwardly against the front end portion of the cylinder.
