The invention relates to a treatment unit with a cutting tool ( ) for treating wood, plastic or the like. Said treatment unit comprises a suction hood ( ) with a ring ( ) that encircles the tool ( ) completely in the circumferential direction and at least partially in the axial direction. The suction hood ( ) is located on the side of the drive spindle of the tool ( ). A chip receiving opening ( ) is provided in the tool ( ) in the vicinity of the blade ( ), said opening traversing the tool ( ) in both the axial and the radial direction. A chip formed at the blade ( ) is transported through the chip receiving opening ( ) to the suction hood ( ) from where the chip is removed by air suction.

Machining assembly including a rotating tool and exhaust hood

The invention relative to a device for machining workpieces comprising: a chip removing, rotating tool ( ) configured substantially as a hollow body including at least one cutter ( ), a portion of the tool adjoining the cutter ( ) being penetrated by a chip receiving opening ( ) for communicating chips into a tool cavity; and an exhaust means including a stationary exhaust housing ( ) configured substantially as a hollow body communicating with the cavity ( ) at least in part and in connection with at least one exhaust air source; the communicating portion of the exhaust housing ( ) comprising in the region of the cutter ( ) a chip communicating window ( ) porting into an exhaust passage ( ) of the exhaust housing ( ); and the exhaust passage comprising in an exhaust passage section upstream of the chip communicating window ( ), relative to the exhaust direction, at least one auxiliary air infeed opening. The invention relates furthermore to a method for machining workpieces by means of one such device.

Device and method for machining workpieces

This invention concerns a processing machine, particularly for panel-shaped workpieces of wood or wood materials, which consists of: one or more processing stations which essentially lie in the same plane; at least one working unit which can travel over the work stations in three axes perpendicular to one another, and, a number of bearing rails upon which the displaceable carriage units are arranged in the plane of the work stations. The bearing rails have electrical and pneumatic supply interfaces for the carriage units and the supply interfaces are arranged linearly along the longitudinal direction of the bearing rail.
