A method of treating a subterranean formation, for example a subterranean formation susceptible to formation of a undesirable gel-like goo ;- is-described. The method includecomprises contacting the formation with a fluid (A) havingcomprising a polymer (PP) which includes a pendent group which includes a moiety O-S=0 (I) wherein the sulphur atom of the moiety is covalently bonded, optionally via a linking atom or group, to the backbone of the polymer.

Subterranean formations

The embodiments herein relate generally to subterranean formation operations and, more particularly, to surfactant flowback aids for use in subterranean formation operations. The surfactant flowback aid composition may comprise an aqueous phase comprising an aqueous base fluid, a surfactant blend, and a demulsifier. The surfactant blend may comprise a C8-C18 alcohol ethoxy-late; a fatty acid alkanolamide; and optionally, a surfactant selected from the group consisting of a non-ionic surfactant, an anionic surfactant, a cationic surfactant, an amphoteric surfactant, and any combination thereof. The demulsifier may be selected from the group consisting of a desalter agent to separate water from crude oil, a treater agent to flocculate submicron particulates from crude oil, and any combination thereof.

Surfactant flowback aids for use in subterranean formation operations

Methods and systems for treating a subterra-nean formation. An example method comprises pumping an aerosol comprising a vaporized carrier fluid and a dispersed polyhydroxyetheramine in a wellbore penetrating the sub-terranean formation; depositing the polyhydroxyetheramine on a surface of the subterranean formation; and producing hydrocarbons from the treated subterranean formation.

This present application relates generally to a testing device for selecting a surfactant during oilfield subterranean operation technologies. More specifically, the application relates to providing a testing device for selecting a surfactant depending on the interaction of the surfactant with a combination of variables, including the formation hydrocarbon, source water and formation mineralogy.

Method and apparatus for selecting surfactants

Methods of evaluating formation stabilization treatments for subterranean formations are provided. In some embodiments, the methods comprise: providing; adding a portion of test fluid to each of a first and second portion of a material from a subterranean formation and agitating to form a first mixture and a second mixture; measuring capillary suction time of the first mixture and turbidity of the second mixture; placing a sandpack comprising another portion of the formation material in a column; passing another portion of the test fluid through the sandpack to collect an effluent; measuring a differential pressure across the sandpack and a turbidity of the effluent; and selecting a formation stabilization treatment for the subterranean formation based at least in part on one or more of the capillary suction time of the first mixture, the turbidity of the second mixture, the differential pressure across the sandpack, and the turbidity of the effluent.

Workflow for evaluating stabilization products for use in subterranean formations

Method of selecting an optimum formation stabilization treatment for subterranean formations is described. The methods include obtaining formation material, adding a test fluid to the formation material to form a first mixture, adding the test fluid to the formation material to form a second mixture, agitating the first and second mixtures, measuring capillary suction time of the first mixture, and measuring turbidity of the second mixture.

Formation stabilization workflow

Methods of evaluating and/or selecting formation stabilization treatments for subterranean formations are provided. In some embodiments, the methods comprise: subjecting a test formation sample to stress loads, wherein sample comprises: two wafers of a formation material from a subterranean formation, and a plurality of proppant particulates between and in contact with the two wafers; measuring a conductivity of a test fluid through the test formation sample, wherein an eluted test fluid is collected after passing through the test formation sample; determining one or more damage properties of the test formation sample using computed tomography images; determining one or more properties of the eluted test fluid; and selecting a formation stabilization treatment for the subterranean formation based at least in part on the conductivity of the test fluid through the test formation sample, the damage properties of the test formation sample, and/or the properties of the eluted test fluid.

Advanced workflow for evaluating formation damage and stabilization treatments

A method of evaluating stabilization fluids for use in a subterranean formation having a clay composition is disclosed. The method features providing a plurality of replicant core samples representative of the composition of a subterranean formation. A plurality of stabilization fluids are introduced to the plurality of replicant core sample such that an eluted mixture is extracted from a second end of each replicant core sample. Afterwards, at least one property of the eluted mixture from each replicant core sample is determined.
