An alternating current contactor has an armature to be actutated by a magnet system. The armature is operatively connected to a return spring-loaded contact base holding movable contact parts of the contact system. The contact base is here provided with a supplementary mass and brought into operative connection with the armature via a coupling spring, the supplementary mass being movable relative to the contact base and an additionally provided intermediate part to which the armature is coupled. The coupling spring, taking support on the contact base on the one hand, can, on the other hand, bear against an angularly bent end of the intermediate part which is pressed against the supplementary mass. The supplementary mass is applied against a stop at the contact base or being spring-loaded through a separate supplementary spring counter to the direction of movement of the contact base against a stop at the contact base. Friction elements affecting the free movement engage at the supplementary mass, so that a delay of the supplementary mass corresponding to the friction behavior can be achieved. Thereby, the general sensitivity of a magnet system in the case of uneven pole faces to the closing behavior is considerably reduced. This is of special advantage when a contactor can be optimal at 50 and 60 Hz line frequency.

Alternating current contactor

An electromagnetic switchgear having a housing and a movable magnet part guided in the housing along a direction of motion. A contact bridge carrier is coupled to the movable magnet part and has openings. The housing has projections of different heights which extend through the openings in the contact bridge carrier and into sequential engagement with the movable part, to provide for switching-off with substantially reduced bouncing.

Electromagnetic switchgear

In an electromagnetic switchgear with movable contact parts held in a movable contact support and forming, with fixed contact parts, opening and closing contacts, the contact support being elastically connected with the armature in such a way that, with the opening contact welded, an onward movement of the movable magnet part is possible without operation of the closing contact, the yoke of the magnet system is also suspended elastically in its closing direction and this elastic suspension, the elastic connection between the armature and contact support and the elasticity of the movable contact parts are matched to one another in such a way that with the opening contact welded and the magnet system closed, the spring excursions of the armature and yoke are approximately the same.

An electromagnetic switching device having a magnet system with a magnet yoke and armature, this armature being connected to a contact carrier, which is movably guided in the housing of the switching device and has switching contacts lying one behind the other at right angles to the actuating direction. Together with stationary contacts, these switching contacts form make or break contacts, with supporting or locking stops being provided for switching contacts in the contact carrier. The contact carriers are guided with clearance in the housing, so that a tilting is possible. With regard to this tilting motion, the free path, that is the path which is required from the point where all break contacts are disengaged up to the point where all make contact are brought into contact, must be cut off at the last disengaging break contact. To keep this free path relatively long, the stops are arranged in the contact bridge carrier in a staggered manner.

Electromagnetic protective switching device

An electromagnetic switching device includes a mechanism to couple the magnet armature with its contact carrier. A plate spring is provided with cylindrical formations in its mid-section as well as on its opposite ends so that the plate spring can bend beyond its elongated state. This prevents the spring tension from being altered by contact with the ends of the opening of the magnet armature and the ends of the supporting slots.

Electromagnetic switching device

An electromagnetic switchgear having movable contact members engagable with respective fixed contact members includes an elastic connection between a movable armature and a contact carrier. The elastic connection enables relative motion between the armature and the contact carrier so that the contact carrier may remain relatively stationary during continued motion of the armature. The elastic connection comprises an appropriately designed coupling spring.

An a.c. contactor with an armature activated by a magnetic system, which is effectively connected to a return spring-loaded contactor onto which the movable contact component of the contact system is mounted. The contact carrier is herein fitted with an auxiliary mass and placed in effective contact with the armature by a coupling spring, wherein the auxiliary mass is movable in relationship to the contact carrier and an additional spacer bar component, with which the armature is coupled. The coupling spring supported on one end by the contact carrier, can on the other end connect to an offset end of the spacer component which is pressed against the auxiliary mass, whereby the auxiliary mass connects with a catch of a contact carrier or else is spring-loaded against the direction of motion of the contact carrier towards a stop on the contact carrier via a separate auxiliary spring. These improvements dampen and delay the recoil of the contact carrier experienced during switching of the a.c. contactor.
