A system for tracking and monitoring data related to the manufacture, installation and/or life cycle of concrete structures, such as pilings, as well as related system components and methods for tracking, storing and accessing such data is provided. The system utilizes an embeddable antenna assembly as well as a sensor package that are installed in the concrete structure form before casting. The antenna provides wireless communication of the data from the structure. On board memory is also provided to store structure related data with the structure. A system for tracking a pile during driving is also provided, and life cycle monitoring is also provided.

Monitoring system for concrete pilings and method of installation

A system for tracking and monitoring data related to the manufacture, installation and/or life cycle of concrete structures, such as pilings, as well as related system components and methods for tracking, storing and accessing such data is provided. The system utilizes one or more embeddable antenna assemblies as well as sensor packages that are installed in the concrete structure form before casting. The antenna(s) provide wireless communication of the data from the structure. On board memory is also provided to store structure related data with the structure. A system for tracking a pile during driving is also provided.

A method for casting monitored pilings and a pour diverter used in connection with the method is provided. The method includes positioning a plurality of pile strands in a form, and then connecting a suspension assembly having at least one sensor to at least one of the pile strands so that the at least one sensor is located in a piling core area. A pour diverter, having a generally V-shaped configuration, is positioned over the suspension assembly. Concrete is poured into the form over the pour diverter so that a flow of the concrete into the form is split and flows down on either side of the suspension assembly until the at least one sensor is covered. The pour diverter is then removed to finish the casting. Preferably, provisions are provided on the pour diverter for holding or covering an antenna assembly during the pour, prior to it being placed into the concrete forming the piling.

An improved antenna system, method and apparatus for interrogating and locating RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags and other RF (Radio Frequency) devices, and various applications therefore and thereof, are disclosed. One embodiment is for reading and locating the physical position of RFID tags (such as is made by Phillips, Siemens's Infineon and Texas Instrument) that may be embedded in gaming chips (RFID gaming chips, such as is made by Gaming Partners International Corp.) used in a casino, TV or movie studio or elsewhere for wagering at table games and other gambling games including Blackjack, Poker, Craps, Baccarat and Roulette, but the invention may be used for various other RFID applications.

A system and method for removing perspective distortion from an image of an object () moving along a transport device () having a top surface () is disclosed. A line scanner () to create a first image of an object. The first image is composed of a plurality of scan lines, each having a resolution. Each of the scan lines is then rescaled, so that the resolution of each scan line is equal to the resolution of every other scan line. Each of the scan lines is processed in two halves so that the center lines of the scan lines are co-linear after rescaling. The line scanner is optionally configured to vary its field of view as a function of the distance between the line scanner and the portion of the object being scanned.

Linear imager rescaling method

An optical scanning apparatus and method for scanning a surface of an object is provided. The scanner has an image sensor having a sensor plane and an image data output. An optics system defines an optical path having an axis and a first end whereat a scan object surface is locatable for scanning and a second end at the sensing plane. Preferably, the optics system includes a lens subsystem and a movable mirror for adjusting the length of the optical path. A linear actuator is coupled to the mirror such that movement of the mirror adjusts the focus of an optical image on the image sensor. A linear actuator is also operatively coupled to the image sensor to control the orientation of the plane of the image sensor relative to the optical path axis. When a scan object surface is located at the first end of the optical path at an orientation skewed from a plane orthogonal with the optical path axis at the first path end, the linear actuator orients the sensor plane to a corresponding skewed orientation relative to a plane orthogonal with the optical path axis at the second path end.

Auto-focus system with 2-D or 3-D compensation

A system for focusing light on an illumination area. The system includes a reflector having a focusing reflective surface and a focal region and an LED array having a plurality of LEDs located within the focal region. Each of the plurality of LEDs in the LED array is positioned to emit light toward the focusing reflective surface. The focusing reflective surface reflects light from each of the plurality of LEDs of the LED array toward the illumination area.

Integrating LED illumination system for machine vision systems

A presentation imaging system used for imaging machine readable information on an object is provided. The system includes an imaging device coupled to a processor. The imaging device senses the presence of an object within a field of view. A light source projects a structured beam at a first intensity to define an imaging area generally co-extensive with the field of view. Upon detection of the object, the processor signals the light source to project the beam at a second, higher intensity for imaging.

Presentation imaging system

A scanning system utilizes a randomly addressable image sensor which is selectively positioned at the Scheimpflug angle in the image plane in order to detect focused light reflected from an object. Light reflected from the object is focused onto the sensor through an objective lens. Since the sensor is mounted at the Scheimpflug angle, each strip within the depth of field of the object plane has corresponding pixels on the sensor which are in focus.

Large depth of field line scan camera

A system for scanning human or machine readable information located on objects moving in a transport direction along a transport path. An imaging device having a first observation path and at least a 1&times;N sensor array is also provided. A scanning zone is located along the transport path. A rotating sweeping unit is positioned to receive light from the scanning zone and reflect it to the imaging device. The sweeping unit sweeps through the scanning zone along a sweep path. The imaging device captures a plurality of image segments that extend generally across the transport path and are each at least 1&times;N pixels in size. Movement of the sweeping unit is preferably synchronized to movement of the objects along the transport path.

Synchronously sweeping line scan imager

A presentation imaging system used for imaging machine readable information on an object is provided. The system includes a proximity sensor and an imaging device coupled to a processor. The sensor senses the presence of an object within a field of view. A light source projects a structured beam at a first intensity to define an imaging area generally co-extensive with the field of view. Upon detection of the object, the processor signals the light source to project the beam at a second, higher intensity for imaging.

A scanner for optically scanning coded symbologies including a signal processing unit for pre-processing the scanned symbology information and a hardware symbology locating unit. An analog signal related to the reflectivity of the different portions of the coded symbology is obtained and is converted to digital gray-scale. The portion of the analog signal which corresponds to the substrate reflectance (absolute contrast) is removed, and the available dynamic range of the analog to digital converter is used only for the information-bearing portion of the signal (relative contrast). Since all of the decodable information is ultimately encoded in binary form, the information-bearing portion of the signal is retained. The hardware symbology locating unit includes a plurality of shift registers, each of which derives a value from an input seed which is based upon the width of a detected coded symbology element. The value of a subsequent input seed is compared to the values generated from a prior input seed. Based upon this comparison, the unit determines whether the size of a subsequent symbology element is a ratio match of a prior symbology element. The presence of a potential coded symbology candidate is likely when a plurality of ratio matches are detected.
