For a hydraulic actuation arrangement of a motor vehicle friction clutch a hydraulic cylinder is proposed of which the cylinder, displaceably receiving a piston (7), consists of a synthetic plastics material moulding (3) and a tube piece (5) of metal arranged in the moulding (3) and guiding the piston (7). The tube piece (5) is cut off from a semi-finished tube and guided with axial play, but with resilient initial stress, in the moulding (3). Seals (27, 49) arranged at the ends of the tube part (5) seal the tube part (5) off from the moulding (3).

It is proposed for the clutch disc of a motor vehicle friction clutch that one of the lateral discs of a torsional vibration damper of the clutch disc be mounted via a radially resilient mounting ring on a cylindrical bearing face of a hub of the clutch disc. The mounting ring has a closed annular part which is fixed radially and axially in a central opening of the lateral disc and, on its internal periphery, has a substantially conical, preferably radially slotted, radially resilient connecting region. On its internal periphery, the connection region is provided directly or via a shaped-on tube region with a cylindrical opposing bearing face which rests substantially without initial tension on the bearing face of the hub. Spacer blocks limit the radial spring path and are used for the non-rotational guidance of the mounting ring on the lateral disc.

Clutch disc for a friction clutch

The disengaging device for a double friction clutch, particularly the starting-up and gear shifting clutch as well as the power take-off clutch of an agricultural tractor vehicle comprises a housing in which, adapted to have hydraulic pressure applied to them, there are formed two coaxially interengaging annular cylindrical spaces. Axially displaceable independently of each other within the annular cylindrical spaces are annular pistons which carry mutually coaxial disengaging bearings. The housing preferably consists of three separate cylindrical tubes which carry radially outwardly projecting annular flanges at their ends which are axially remote from the disengaging bearings and are fixed to one another via these annular flanges. The disengaging device is compact both axially and also radially.

Disengaging device for a double friction clutch

A clutch disc assembly particularly suited for a motor vehicle including a hub having a radially projecting annular flange with annular friction pads coaxially arranged with the hub for torque transmission therebetween. A pair of annular plate members are arranged on axially opposite sides of the friction pads and of the annular flange and an annular disc member is arranged axially adjacent the annular flange and between the annular flange and one of the annular plate members. The annular plate members and the annular disc member are rotatably mounted relative to the hub, and coupling members are provided to rotatively connect together the annular plate members and the annular disc member with the coupling members being arranged in rotative driving engagement with the hub with angular play provided therebetween. A load damper is operatively interposed between the annular friction pads and the annular plate members, and an idling damper is operatively interposed between the annular flange and the annular disc member. The idling damper is located radially inwardly of the load damper within openings formed in the annular flange of the hub, and at least one of the annular plate members is formed to extend radially alongside the idler damper. Indentations or openings formed in one of the annular plate members and the annular disc member operate to hold the idler damper within the openings of the annular flange of the hub.

Clutch disc assembly with torsional oscillation dampers

A liquid friction coupling is provided for driving a fan wheel in connection with the cooling system of an internal combustion engine. The liquid friction coupling is manufactured as a pre-assembled unit. The unit comprises a shaft, a rotor fastened on the shaft and a shear liquid housing rotatably mounted on the shaft and enclosing the rotor. A partition wall defines two working spaces within the housing. This partition wall is provided with an opening. A valve lever is associated with said opening for selectively closing or clearing said opening so as to vary the torque transmission between the rotor and the housing. The valve lever is actuated, e.g. by a bi-metallic actuator member, subject to external temperature. The shaft is provided with a central bore. A fastening screw passes said central bore for fastening said shaft to a rotating member driven by the engine. The end of the screw which is remote from the engine is easily accessible for a tightening key. Components which cover the screw head are either provided with openings permitting access to the screw head or such components are easily fittable to the unit.

Liquid friction coupling

In a clutch mechanism for rotatably coupling a pair of shafts by engagement between a first and a second frictional engaging element each rotatably affixed, respectively, to one of the shafts, there is provided a fluid pressure mechanism for establishing frictional connection between the first and second engaging elements. A rotary valve mechanism including a first and a second valve component operates to prevent slippage between the first and second frictional engaging elements only when the first and second valve components are in a particular angular relationship relative to each other where the fluid flow cross-section through the rotary valve mechanism is a minimum. Additionally, rotary lock means may be provided for releasably locking the first and second frictional engaging elements together when slippage therebetween is prohibited by the positioning of the valve components of the rotary valve mechanism.

Fluid pressure clutch

In a clutch disc assembly, a hub disc extends outwardly from a hub and a cover disc is provided on each side of the hub disc. The cover discs are angularly movable about the axis of the hub between a neutral position and a pair of terminal positions each spaced on an opposite side of the neutral position. Groups of aligned windows are provided through the hub disc and the cover discs with the windows extending in the circumferential direction around the hub axis. A compression spring extends in the circumferential direction about the hub axis and is located within each group of aligned windows. The compression spring functions as a torsion spring operatively interconnecting the hub disc and the cover discs for resisting angular movement from the neutral to the terminal positions. A plurality of friction units are located between the hub disc and the cover discs and the friction units have different torque values. In a group of aligned windows, the circumferential extent of the window in the hub disc is greater than the circumferential extent of the windows in the cover discs. The compression spring within the group of aligned windows has a circumferential extent in the neutral position equal to the circumferential extent of the cover disc windows.

Clutch disc assembly

A driven plate for an automotive friction clutch having a hub unit and a disc unit rotatable on the hub unit and carrying the friction facings of the clutch is equipped with helical compression springs simultaneously received in respective openings of a hub flange and of two discs of the disc unit along a common circle about the clutch axis for damping relative motion of the two units. The two discs are axially fixedly connected by shoulder rivets which act as spacers and pass through openings in the hub flange also receiving respective damping springs.
