In one example aspect, a method is provided of determining whether a cell can guarantee at least one data transmission parameter, the method comprising, in response to a notification of an attach procedure of a User Equipment (UE) to attach to a cell, determining a traffic profile for the UE, wherein the traffic profile indicates the at least one data transmission parameter for the UE, and determining whether the cell can guarantee the at least one data transmission parameter for the UE based on the traffic profile and available resources for the cell.

A technique for hiding topological information in a message that leaves a trusted network-domain is presented. The message pertains to a subscriber session and comprises a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of a message originator. The originator is located in a first network domain, and the message is directed towards a destination in a second network domain. A method aspect comprises the steps of receiving the message, determining the FQDN comprised in the message and determining an identifier associated with the message. The identifier comprises at least one of a subscriber identifier, a session identifier and a destination identifier. Further, the method comprises applying a cryptographic operation on the FQDN and the identifier, or on information derived therefrom, to generate a cryptographic value. The message is then processed by substituting at least a portion of the FQDN with the cryptographic value prior to forwarding the message towards the second network domain.

Data transfer in mobile networks

The present invention relates to a method for paging, by a network mobility management unit, a mobile entity in a cellular network. The method includes receiving plural location reports, each respectively including an indicator indicating a position of the mobile entity, determining whether indicators included in at least two successive location reports indicate a position in a same second area, selectively setting paging control information for the mobile entity to a first area mode or to a second area mode based on said determining, paging the mobile entity in a first area of the cellular network when the paging control information is set to the first area mode, or paging the mobile entity in said second area when the paging control information is set to the second area mode. The second area is a sub-area of the first area.

Paging a mobile entity in mobile networks

The present invention is directed to connecting a dual mode mobile terminal to a wireless communication network and includes connecting a dual mode mobile terminal to a wireless communication network using a mobile attachment mode or a fixed attachment mode. This includes detecting an operative transfer state of the dual mode mobile terminal triggering a transfer from the mobile attachment mode to the fixed attachment mode, and achieving a mobile attachment mode detach from the wireless communication network in the mobile attachment mode upon detection of the operative transfer state. This also includes achieving a fixed attachment mode attach to the same wireless communication network subsequent to execution of the mobile attachment mode detach to initiate the fixed attachment mode.

Dual mode mobile terminal access to a wireless communication network

A switching device (PLMN-SW) in a mobile radio communication system (PLMN) which supports a GPRS-network allows to connect a terminal station (GPRS-MS) of the mobile radio communication network (PLMN) with one of a plurality of packet data communication networks (PDN PDN IN). The selection of the packet data communication network (PDN PDN IN) is based on the transmission of a specific network indication parameter (NIP) from the terminal station (GPRS-MS) of the mobile radio communication network (PLMN). The network indication parameter (NIP) is transmitted to a serving (GPRS) support node (SGSN) as a special parameter in a PDP context activation procedure. Thus, a large number of internet service providers (ISP ISP ISP ) can be connected to a GPRS-network.

A mobile switching center (MSC) not equipped with the necessary hardware/software devices or modules communicates with a Shared Interworking Function node to provide an Interworking function (IWF) service to a particular mobile station. Control data associated with the requested IWF service are transported from the serving MSC to the SIWF node using basic and supplementary Integrated Service Digital Network User Part (ISUP) signals. Such control data are encapsulated into optional parameters within the transmitted ISUP signals and transparently transported from the serving MSC to the SIWF telecommunications node.
