An actuator with an override device to avoid damage to components during transition to and from manual operation and during manual operation. In one embodiment, the actuator comprises an output shaft, a drive assembly coupled with the output shaft, the drive assembly comprising a motor and a brake, an override device coupled with the output shaft, the override device comprising a gear assembly and a switch actuator, and a housing forming an enclosure about at least the gear assembly and the switch actuator. The switch actuator can be configured to modify an external input to the drive assembly in response to relocation of the gear assembly relative to the output shaft between a first position and a second position so as to disconnect the motor from the external input at the first position, disconnect both the motor and the brake from the external input at the second position, and apply the external input to the brake during transition between the first position and the second position.

Regulating operation of a drive assembly for manual overide of an actuator

A safety device that is useful to release load on a spring found in an actuator. In one embodiment, the actuator can have a housing comprising a pair of housing members and a fastening device coupling the pair of housing members to one another. The embodiment can also have an output shaft extending longitudinally in the housing, the output shaft having an end configured to couple with a process device. The embodiment may also have a spring coupled with the output shaft. The embodiment can further have a safety device coupled to the spring and configured to operate to reduce loading of the spring from a first load to a second load. In one example, the safety device is in position to prevent access to the fastening device at the first load and to allow access to the fastening device at the second load so that the pair of housing members can separate to allow access to the spring in the housing.

Reducing spring load prior to maintenance on an actuator

A liquid dosing device for use with a liquid dispenser that includes a container for holding liquid in communication with a dispenser base, an outlet port for dispensing the liquid. The liquid dosing device includes a valve housing, a reservoir and a dosing cup. The valve housing is mounted to the dispenser base and includes an open top, an outlet port and a blocking region. The reservoir is mounted within the valve housing and includes at least one inlet port in communication with the dispenser base outlet port and at least one outlet port. The dosing cup is movably mounted within the valve housing in fluid communication with the reservoir and includes at least one inlet port in fluid communication with the reservoir outlet port, a blocking region, at least one outlet port and mechanism for moving the dosing cup between a fill position and a dose position to prevent spillage of the liquid being dispensed, or to dispense the liquid in defined quantities.

Chemical dosing system

A controlled coin inlet or portal is described that allows for improved alignment of a coin with the coin entry slot of a coin acceptor mechanism. A coin entry slot having at least an upper or lower edge is dimensioned to allow entry of a coin of a desired maximum width in a substantially on-edge orientation. The coin portal may include at least one outwardly extending coin guide slot of substantially corresponding maximum width as the coin entry slot and positioned adjacent to the upper or lower edge of the coin entry slot.

A method and apparatus for preventing the fraudulent receipt of credit for the goods or services provided by a coin-operated device is disclosed. A coin acceptor with an anti-fraud feature comprises a coin-accept channel comprising a lip to block the introduction of a non-coin object to a coin sensor and a coin-guiding surface to guide a coin downstream the lip to the coin sensor. The coin-accept channel may further comprise a blocking area, a deflection surface, and a protrusion to prevent the upstream movement of a tethered coin-like object, thereby preventing a single tethered coin-like object from receiving multiple credits for the goods or services provided by a coin-operated device.

Coin acceptor with anti-fraud feature

A coin separator and rejector apparatus that will electronically release and return jammed coins, tokens, slugs and the like is disclosed. A coin separator and rejector body is described having one or more downwardly inclined coin races formed therein. The rejector body has an upstream portion and a downstream portion. The coin races further comprise a first wall and a second wall wherein at least a portion of one of the race walls is pivotally connected with the rejector body. A first sensor is located in the upstream portion of the rejector body and a second sensor located in said downstream portion of said rejector body. An actuator is in mechanical connection with the pivotal portion of the race wall. A processor is in electrical communication with the sensors and with said actuator. A coin in an upstream portion of a coin separator and rejector is detected by the first sensor and sends a signal to the processor. The processor is programmed to wait a predetermined period of time to receive a signal from the second sensor indicating that the coin has progressed in the coin race to the second sensor. If the processor receives no signal from the second sensor after a predetermined time period has passed, the processor sends a signal to the actuator to open the pivotally connected portion of the separator and rejector to allow the jammed coin to be released from the separator and rejector.
