A convertible top includes a canopy arranged below a cover material. The canopy is comprised of a knitted fabric comprising two knitted external webs and a spacing structure disposed between the webs. The spacing structure is formed by a plurality of threads connecting the webs together. The longitudinal edges of the fabric are developed with integrated channels which are without any interposed spacing structure therein, and which receive longitudinal tensioning elements for the canopy. On the top side of the canopy and extending in the transverse direction of the canopy there are provided connecting elements by which the canopy can be fastened to hoops disposed on the cover material by clip mounting.

A sun visor with a reversible mirror. The visor body has a recess in a wide side of the sun visor body. A trough-shaped housing is arranged in the recess. A reversibly mounted mirror is received in the housing. A yoke comprising two arms and a cross arm is mounted for swinging around the cross arm and lies flat in the housing closely adjacent to three adjoining housing walls. The yoke is swingable away from the housing bottom against the restoring force of a spring means acting on the yoke arms. The mirror is mounted for turning between the arms of the yoke.

A container, like an ashtray, particularly for use in a vehicle. A housing with an open side and a drawer like insert slidably guided for movement into and out of the housing. A plurality of guide members fastened to each of the opposite sidewalls of the housing past which the insert is moved. Each guide member includes a plate at the housing sidewall and outward projections on the plate, which are received in a respective guide groove defined on the respective opposite sidewall of the insert. Each projection includes a forwardly bent portion and a curved fillet connection to the respective plate. The outward projections are integral with the plate of the guide member and of the same resilient material as and is resiliently movable both generally parallel to the plane of the plate of the guide member and also perpendicular to that plate. The guide projections are engaged with vertical and horizontal tension in the guide grooves. The guide member is supported to the housing sidewall on a support surface and is held there by a resilient clip in an opening defined in the sidewall.

The disclosure concerns various embodiments of a sun-visor for mounting at the front side window of an automotive vehicle. The sun-visor body is shifted up and down and may also be shifted laterally for covering the front side window of the vehicle, without swinging about a horizontal axis. Various mounting arrangements for the visor body are disclosed, including pivot links, pivotally attaching the visor body to the vehicle body; guide projections formed on one of the visor body and the vehicle body and a guide pathway for the guide projections being formed on the other; and tenons on the visor body which are received in respective guide tubes on the vehicle body. The guide pathway in the surface of the visor body for receiving a guide projection from the vehicle body, or vice-versa, may be obliquely inclined, arcuately curved or bent at an angle intermediate its length for defining both up and down and/or lateral motion of the visor body for covering the front side window.

The invention concerns the swivel bearing of a sun visor for an automotive vehicle. The swivel bearing connects the body of the sun visor with a mounting shaft for the sun visor. A protective housing comprised of injection molded plastic surrounds the swivel bearing housing. The protective housing is a single piece comprised of two halves which are hinged together along one edge and are clipped together at their opposite edge to surround the swivel bearing housing. The exterior of the protective housing is profiled so that all edges, corners and any other deformed part thereof has an outer contour radius of at least 3.2 mm. for eliminating sharp edges at the swivel bearing. The protective housing has an interior contour adapted to the outer contour of the swivel bearing housing.

The disclosure concerns a sun visor for an automotive vehicle wherein the foamed body of the sun visor is surrounded by a covering layer of flexible, foil material. The sun visor body has a recess defined in it for holding a mirror or the housing that supports the mirror. The section of the covering layer overlapping the recess is more expansible than the remainder of the covering layer. To make this section more expansible, it is punched with holes defining a lattice of the material, and various shapes holes are disclosed.

The disclosure concerns a sun visor body or the reinforcing insert for a sun visor body which is comprised of a blow molded body on which corrugations are defined. The body has two opposite sides which are held together. A mount is formed toward one corner of the body. A plurality of depressed corrugations extend across both opposite sides of the body from the mount to various positions away from the mount. The orientations of the coorugations are selected to strengthen the body and particularly to strengthen it against tensile stress. The corrugations terminate short of the edge regions of the body. Furthermore, where corrugations would intersect, the corrugations are interrupted or terminate short of the intersections for defining an uncorrugated region near the intersections. Some of the corrugations on opposite sides of the body being deep enough to be connected to corresponding corrugations on the other opposite side of the body.

The disclosure concerns a sun visor having an illuminated mirror supported in a housing in a recesss in the body of the sun visor. A light source is located behind the mirror and it has exposed contacts. A metal heat insulating plate is located between the light source and the mirror and the metal plate has an anodized, electrically non-conductive surface facing into the housing preventing short circuiting of the light source if the contacts touch the metal plate. The metal plate is deformed to produce beads projecting forward into contact with the mirror, thereby defining an insulating air space between the mirror and the metal plate. A translucent frame in the housing supports the mirror and permits emergence of light around the mirror. The frame includes clip connections for holding the mirror and the metal plate and for holding the frame to the sun visor body.

A sun visor for a motor vehicle including a visor body, a bearing axle which is u-shaped in cross-section so that its arms exert a radial, twist resisting force and a bearing housing into which the axle is fitted and which, in turn, snap attaches to a receiving opening for it in the vehicle.
