A multi-user aware ('MUA') computing device, such a communal computing device like an interactive digital whiteboard, can enforce role-based constraints on the modification of components, such as configuration settings. The MUA computing device can be configured with universal settings, global settings, and temporal settings. Universal settings cannot be changed by users of the MUA computing device. Device owners can change global settings that apply to all users of a MUA computing device. All users of the MUA computing device can change temporal settings. Changes to temporal settings are stored in profiles associated with authenticated users but are not persisted for guest users. When all users have stopped using the MUA computing device, the device can be configured with default values for the temporal settings in order to return the device to a known state.

Enforcement of role-based constraints on the modification of components of a multi-user aware computing device

One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for matching a client device with an appropriate network service provider data package. A device ID for the client device can be decomposed to one or more device ID ranges in a device decomposition set. One or more ranges of client ID can be assigned to a network service provider data package, which can be decomposed into a set of package decomposition ranges in a package decompositions set. The device decomposition set can be compared to the package decomposition set, and if an intersection is identified between the sets, the network service provider data package can be provided to the client device.

Described is a method and system a system and method for dynamically and intelligently configuring a computer system's video-related settings upon connection of a monitor, and/or reconfiguring upon disconnection. A monitor configuration may include one or more display mechanisms, their video settings, relative positioning, and may include power scheme data. When a monitor is plugged into or unplugged from a computer system, a monitor manager component is notified and determines the current configuration, such as based on monitor identifiers. The current configuration is searched against persisted monitor configurations seeking a match. If previous monitor configuration data is found, the previous monitor configuration is applied. If not an exact match, configuration data is constructed based on similar configuration data that is persisted, or by querying for capabilities and iterating as necessary to find a video mode that the video card and monitor can use.

System and method for managing computer monitor configurations

A system and method for associating an ink title with a note is described. A user may hand write a title for a document or note and have the handwritten ink title be displayed when interacting with the system when, for example, viewing the contents of a directory, reviewing the results of a search, viewing a list of most recently used documents, viewing a history of which documents were used, and the like. The use of a handwritten ink title speeds a user's recall of the content of the note over textual titles.
