An electrical terminal for terminating magnet wire. The terminal includes a mating portion and a wire barrel positioned in line with the mating portion. The wire barrel has a first asymmetrical termination section and a second asymmetrical termination section, with the first termination section provided in line with the second termination section. The first termination section is positioned closer to the mating portion. The first and second termination sections have first side walls, second side walls and base walls. The first side walls, the second side wall and the base walls have a plurality of serrations.

Electrical terminal for terminating a wide size range of magnet wires

An insulation displacement arms. The insulation displacement arms define a conductor or wire receiving slot. The insulation displacement arms have insulation stripping sections, weakened sections and base sections. The weakened sections have weakened section widths which are less than insulation stripping section widths of the insulation stripping sections and less than base section widths of the base section. The weakened sections are resiliently deformed upon one or more insulated conductors engaging the insulation stripping sections of the insulation displacement arms as the one or more insulated conductors are inserted into the insulation stripping zone of the wire receiving slot, allowing the insulation displacement contact to accommodate the one or more insulated conductors of the same type and gauge chosen from a broad range of gauges.

An electrical contact assembly having a braided Litz wire and an electrical contact. The electrical contact has a contact portion and a Litz wire termination portion. The contact portion is configured to make an electrical connection with a mating contact. The Litz wire termination portion has serrations which engage the braided Litz wire. The Litz wire termination portion has a length to allow the Litz wire termination portion to make an electrical connection with each individual wire of the Litz wire.

Solderless connection to Litz wire

An embodiment is directed to a grounding terminal for mounting on a grounding surface. The grounding terminal has a top wall having a first mounting opening and a bottom wall having a second mounting opening. The second mounting opening is in alignment with the first mounting opening to receive mounting hardware therethrough. A first side wall extends between the top wall and the bottom wall at angles other than 90 degrees. A second side wall extends between the top wall and the bottom wall at angles other than 90 degrees. As the mounting hardware is tightened, the shape and positioning of the side walls relative to the top wall and bottom wall reduces the amount of torque required to move the top wall toward the bottom wall to allow for the mounting hardware to be tightened without the need for special tooling.

Thermal protector

An electrical connector is provided that includes a housing, terminals, and a stuffer. The housing has a plurality of terminal channels extending from a rear to a front of the housing. The front of the housing is configured to interface with a mating connector. The terminals are loaded into corresponding terminal channels from the rear of the housing. The terminals extend along a terminal axis between a mating end and a terminating end. The terminating end includes at least one tab that protrudes radially outward from the terminal axis. The stuffer is coupled to the rear of the housing. The stuffer includes multiple teeth received in corresponding terminal channels. When one terminal is not fully loaded in the terminal channel, the corresponding tooth engages one or more of the at least one tab of the terminal and forces the terminal further into the terminal channel.

Electrical connector with terminal position assurance

An adapter for connecting magnet wires to a harness. A first housing of the adapter is secured to a housing of a motor assembly. The first housing has first terminals which are secured in terminal receiving passages of the first housing. The first terminals have insulation displacing slots and mating portions, with the insulation displacing slots configured for receiving magnet wires therein and the mating portions configured to mate with contacts of a mateable connector attached to the harness. A second housing of the adapter has contact receiving passages with receiving portions which configured to receive the mating portions of the first terminals and mateable connector receiving passages extending from the receiving portions. The mateable connector receiving passages dimensioned to receive the contacts of a mateable connector therein.

Adapter for connecting a harness to magnet wires

A grounding clip forming an electrical interconnection between a ground wire and an electrically conductive panel, such as used on an electrical appliance, is disclosed. This grounding clip comprises a stamped and formed member having a U shaped section with opposed walls extending from a bight for engagement with a panel. Tines or serrations are struck inwardly from each wall to grip the panel. A wire contact section is offset from the U shaped panel. A centrally disposed strain relief arm extends from the U shaped section and any force transmitted from the wire to the clip is in the form of a straight pull extending through the centrally disposed strain relief arm.
