A method for labeling fabrics, such as fabric garments, and a heat-transfer label well-suited for use in the method. In one embodiment, the heat-transfer label includes (a) a support portion; and (b) a transfer portion, the transfer portion being positioned over the support portion for transfer of the transfer portion from the support portion to an article of fabric under conditions of heat and pressure, the transfer portion including (i) an ink design layer; (ii) a heat-activatable adhesive layer; and (iii) an RFID device.

Method for labeling fabrics and heat-transfer label well-suited for use in said method

A label assembly and method of using the same to label articles durably, yet removably. In one embodiment, the method includes providing an image removing laminate. The image removing laminate includes (i) a remover support, and (ii) a remover layer secured to the remover support, the remover layer, upon being activated by at least one of heat and light, being bondable to an ink image on a garment in such a way that the bonding between the remover layer and the ink image is stronger than the bonding between the ink image and the garment. The method then includes bonding the remover layer of the image removing laminate to the ink image on the garment and, then, detaching the ink image from the garment by separating the image removing laminate away from the garment.

Label assembly and method of using the same to label articles durably yet removably

A method for labeling fabrics, such as fabric garments, and a heat-transfer label well-suited for use in said method. In one embodiment, the heat-transfer label comprises (i) a support portion, the support portion comprising a carrier and a release layer; (ii) a wax layer, the wax layer overcoating the release layer; and (iii) a transfer portion, the transfer portion comprising an adhesive layer printed onto the wax layer and an ink design layer printed onto the adhesive layer. Preferably, at least a portion of the ink design layer is printed using a variable printing technique, such as thermal transfer printing.

Heat-transfer label well-suited for labeling fabrics and methods of making and using the same

A heat-transfer label assembly. In a preferred embodiment, the heat-transfer label assembly includes a support. A plurality of labels are positioned over the support for transfer from the support to an article, each of the labels including an ink design. A plurality of spacers are positioned over the support but not over the label, the spacers not being transferable with the labels from the support to an article. The distance from the top of the spacers to the support exceeds the distance from the top of the labels to the support so that, when the assembly is wound into a roll, the labels do not come into contact with the bottom surface of an underlying portion of the support.

Heat-transfer label assembly and apparatus for applying heat-transfer labels

A label assembly and method of using the same to label articles durably, yet removably. In one embodiment, the label assembly is used to label fabric articles, such as clothing, and comprises (a) an image forming laminate for forming an image on the fabric article, the image forming laminate comprising an ink layer, the ink layer being bondable to the fabric article; and (b) an image removing laminate for removing the image from the fabric article, the image removing laminate comprising a remover layer, the remover layer, upon being activated by heat and/or light, being bondable to the ink layer of the image forming laminate; (c) whereby, upon bonding of the image removing laminate to the ink layer, the bonding between the image removing laminate and the ink layer is stronger than the bonding between the ink layer and the fabric article.

A heat-transfer label assembly and an apparatus for applying heat-transfer labels. In a preferred embodiment, the heat-transfer label assembly includes a support. A plurality of labels are positioned over the support for transfer from the support to an article, each of the labels including an ink design. A plurality of spacers are positioned over the support but not over the label, the spacers not being transferable with the labels from the support to an article. The distance from the top of the spacers to the support exceeds the distance from the top of the labels to the support so that, when the assembly is wound into a roll, the labels do not come into contact with the bottom surface of an underlying portion of the support. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus for applying heat-transfer labels includes a pad, a die-mark reduction device on the pad, a heated die positioned over the pad, and a motor for moving the heated die into and out of engagement with the die-mark reduction device. One type of die-mark reduction device has a top that includes a plurality of recesses spaced apart from one another, the recesses constituting non-contact areas with the die, the spaces between the recesses constituting contact areas with the die.

A method for labeling fabrics, such as fabric garments, and a heat-transfer label () well-suited for use in said method. In one embodiment, the heat-transfer label () comprises (i) a support portion (), the support portion () comprising a carrier () and a release layer (); (ii) a wax layer (), the wax layer overcoating the release layer (); and (iii) a transfer portion (), the transfer portion () comprising an adhesive layer () printed directly onto the wax layer () and an ink design layer () printed directly onto the adhesive layer (). Each of the adhesive layer () and the ink design layer includes a non-cross-linked PVC resin. Heat transfer label for fabric with thermochromic ink and adhesive surface roughness

A heat-transfer label () including a non-wax, non-silicone release layer or coating () for use in decorating an article, such as a glass container, without leaving a visually discernible release residue on the decorated article. In a preferred embodiment, the label includes a transfer portion (), the transfer portion comprising a protective lacquer layer (), an ink design layer () over the protective lacquer layer, and a heat-activatable adhesive layer () over the ink design and protective lacquer layers. The label also includes a support portion (), the transfer portion being positioned over the support portion for transfer of the transfer portion from the support portion to an article under conditions of heat and pressure. The support portion comprising a carrier layer () and a release layer or coating.

Heat-transfer label including non-wax release coating

Disclosed herein is a multilayer silicone release surface comprising a backing, a support layer on the backing, and a silicone layer of the support layer. The various layers of the multilayer release surface are deposited substantially simultaneously, as for example by a dual die or using curtain coating techniques.

Method for forming multilayer release liners

A heat-transfer label including a non-wax, non-silicone release layer for use in decorating an article without leaving a visually discernible release residue on the decorated article. In a preferred embodiment, the label includes a transfer portion comprising a protective lacquer layer, an ink design layer over the protective lacquer layer, and a heat-activatable adhesive layer over the ink design and protective lacquer layers, the adhesive layer extending beyond the peripheries of the ink design and protective lacquer layers. The adhesive layer preferably includes a polyester resin and an anti-blocking agent, such as a paraffinic wax. The label also includes a support portion, the support portion including a carrier and a non-wax, non-silicone release layer positioned over the carrier and in direct contact with the protective lacquer layer and the periphery of the adhesive layer.
