Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture to control an aggressiveness of display panel power savings are disclosed. An example apparatus include a display panel, a display controller to adjust an image to be displayed by the display panel, and a power savings controller to access an image provided to the display controller, execute a machine learning model using the image as an input to generate an aggressiveness value, and provide the aggressiveness value to the display controller, the display controller to adjust the image based on the aggressiveness value.

Methods and apparatus to control an aggressiveness of display panel power savings and fidelity

Display pixels having integrated memory are disclosed. A disclosed example memory pixel includes a light emitter on a semiconductor substrate, memory co-located with the light emitter on the same semiconductor substrate, and a comparator in circuit with the memory, the comparator to control a flow of electrical current to the light emitter based on pixel data from the memory and timing information.

In one example, a display includes an array of display pixels. Each display pixel includes at least one light-emitting diode. At least one of the display pixels includes an image sensor.

Integrated image sensor and display pixel

Cameras are located within the display area of a display. In-display cameras allow for thinner display bezels. In-display cameras allow for the creation of ultra-high resolution images. The ability to capture an object from multiple perspectives allows for holographic image recording and playback. Multiple views of an image can be captured with varying depths of focus, allowing an image's depth of field to be adjusted during post processing. In-display cameras can also be used for user authentication, touch detection and three-dimensional gesture recognition. Thermal sensors located within the display area allow for control of the display temperature, improved control over system performance, and compensation for micro-LED degradation that can occur due to aging or increased temperature. Microlens assemblies located above pixels can adjust the viewing cone angle of the display or a portion of the display and microassemblies located under individual pixels or pixel arrays can adjust a viewing angle.

In-display sensors and viewing angle adjustment microassemblies

Microphones are located between pixel display elements (e.g., micro-LEDs and OLEDs) in a display. Display-integrated microphones allow displays to have thinner bezels. Audio processing components can also be incorporated into the display and allow audio processing offloading from processors external to the display. Arrays of microphones allow for the beamforming of received audio signals to enhance the detection of sound from remote audio sources. Piezoelectric elements can also be integrated into a display to allow for localized haptic feedback. Integrated piezoelectric elements can act as speakers and beamforming techniques can be used to activate sets of piezoelectric elements in coordination to direct sound to a specific location external to the display. Piezoelectric elements can aid in display thermal management by creating acoustic waves to move heated air within a display to create a more uniform thermal profile within the display or to remove excess heat from the display.

Haptics and microphone display integration

A lid controller hub (LCH) comprising processing components located in the lid of a mobile computing device, such as a laptop, processes sensor data generated by input sensors (microphones, cameras, touchscreen) and provides for improved and enhanced experiences over existing devices. For example, the LCH provides hardened privacy and the synchronization of touch display activities with the display refresh rate, the latter providing for a smoother and more responsive touch experience over existing designs. The LCH enables continuous gestures comprising touch gesture and in-air gesture portions as well as multi-plane gestures in which an initial touch gesture places the device into a mode or context in which it recognizes and acts upon subsequent in-air gestures. Touch operations of a mobile computing device can be based on user presence, user engagement, and a level of user interaction with the device.

Lid controller hub architecture for improved touch experiences

Systems, apparatuses and methods may provide for technology that partitions a high dynamic range (HDR) image into a plurality of regions and determines, on a per region basis, a luminance level of the HDR image. Additionally, the technology may select, on the per image basis, a encoding amount for each region in the plurality of regions based on the luminance level.

Micro light-emitting diode display driver architectures and pixel structures are described. In an example, a driver circuit for a micro light emitting diode device includes a current mirror. A linearized transconductance amplifier is coupled to the current mirror. The linearized transconductance amplifier is to generate a pulse amplitude modulated current that is provided to a set of micro LEDs connected in parallel to provide fault tolerance architecture.

Embodiments herein describe techniques for an optical device including a substrate of a wafer. An image sensor device is formed on a front side of the substrate, while a plurality of posts of a metasurface lens are formed on a backside opposite to the front side of the substrate. The processor executes a set of instructions causing the system to generate a multi-segment tone mapping curve, generate a set of tone mapping values corresponding to the multi-segment tone mapping curve for equally spaced input values between zero and one for storage into a look up table, and process the luminance values using the look up table to apply the tone mapping curve to the luminance values of the pixels.

HDR enhancement with temporal multiplex

Emissive display devices having LED sources with super-lambertian radiation patterns. An exemplary emission source may have a half-emission-cone-angle of less than 40&#xb0;. A system, such as an augmented reality display system, employing such an emissive display device may display a reduction in power of up to three times relative to LED sources with a lambertian radiation pattern. In some systems, such as augmented reality display systems, the optical path down stream of such an emissive display device may be simplified and/or dimensionally scaled, and/or manufactured to lower tolerances. For example, a discrete collimating lens may be eliminated from the optical path of such an emissive display device.
