A coding/decoding technique capable of increasing the error correcting decoding performance and improving the communication quality. This technique divides, through code block segmentation prior to error correcting coding, transmission data with CRC-bit added into a predetermined number of code blocks so that the data length of each code block is an integer multiple of the data length of each transport block and ensures that CRC-bit exists at the end of each code block. Then, the technique performs error correcting coding on each code block after the division.

Coding sectionrecodes decoded data stored in decoded data storage section, data conversion sectionconverts data '0' and '1' output from coding sectionto &#x201c;1&#x201d; and &#x201c;&#x2212;1&#x201d; respectively, sum-of-product calculation sectionmultiplies the data output from data conversion sectionby the demodulated data (soft decision value) stored in demodulated data storage sectionand then calculates the sum of the products for 1 TTI and stores the sum-of-product result for each data rate, data rate decision sectiondecides the data rate corresponding to a maximum value of the sum-of-product results as the data rate of the demodulated data. This makes it possible to improve the accuracy of data rate decision and reduce decoding errors of a received signal.

Candidate limiting section outputs to correlation value calculating section only the TFCI coding sequences corresponding to TFCI numbers that are actually used based on TFCI numbers that are included in the group of TFCI numbers notified from a layer which is upper than the physical layer, correlation value calculating section calculates the correlation values between the coding sequences outputted from candidate limiting section and the received TFCI and stores the results in correlation value memory , maximum value detecting section notifies error correction decoding section of the TFCI number corresponding to the maximum correlation value among the correlation values stored in correlation value memory , and error correction decoding section performs an error correction decoding on the data stored in data memory according to the transmission format specified based on the notified TFCI number.

Decoding method and communication terminal apparatus

Coding section recodes decoded data stored in decoded data storage section , data conversion section converts data &ldquo;0&rdquo; and &ldquo;1&rdquo; output from coding section to &ldquo;1&rdquo; and &ldquo;&minus;1&rdquo; respectively, sum-of-product calculation section multiplies the data output from data conversion section by the demodulated data (soft decision value) stored in demodulated data storage section and then calculates the sum of the products for 1 TTI and stores the sum-of-product result for each data rate, data rate decision section decides the data rate corresponding to a maximum value of the sum-of-product results as the data rate of the demodulated data. This makes it possible to improve the accuracy of data rate decision and reduce decoding errors of a received signal.
