The present invention is to provide a pickup feed device to accurately position an optical pickup in place with miniaturization. The pickup device includes a lead screw attached to a movable chassis, a pickup portion, a rack member, a torsion coil spring, a projection portion, and a recess portion. The pickup portion has a case receiving the pickup. The rack member is fixed to the case. The rack portion disposed on a rack one end portion and a case one end portion are engaged with the lead screw. A rack another end portion has the abut portion abutting an inner edge portion of the movable chassis. The torsion coil spring urges the abut portion toward a case another end portion. The projection portion is disposed on the abut portion and the recess portion is disposed on the case another end portion.

A supporting mechanism for movably supporting a member to be supported along a supporting shaft, comprises supporting members and a pressing device. The supporting members are provided on the member to be supported. Each of the supporting members comes into contact with the supporting shaft on at least two contact points so as to be movable on the supporting shaft. The at least two contact points are apart from each other. The pressing device presses the supporting members against the supporting shaft so that the contact points of each supporting member simultaneously come into contact with the supporting shaft.

To mount or dismount a recording medium easily, a recording medium playback apparatus includes a main body and a tray . The tray includes a tray body , a pickup portion and a lock mechanism. The pickup is mounted on the tray body to be moved freely against the tray body . The lock mechanism can move freely between a permissible position and a limited position. The tray can move between a playback position and a mount position. When the tray is in the playback position, the lock mechanism is positioned in the permissible position. When the tray is in the mount position, the lock mechanism is positioned in the limited position.

Recording medium playback apparatus

A pickup device has a light source, an objective lens for converging rays of light emitted from a light source onto a recording medium, a lens holder for holding the objective lens, and supporting element for movably supporting the lens holder. The pickup device is uniquely featured in that a part of the objective lens and a part of the lens holder are movable relative to each other so as to adjust an inclination of an optical axis of the objective lens.
