An inter-phase insulating paper is inserted, using a guide jig, into slots formed in the inner circumferential surface of a stator core. The guide jig is disposed at a predetermined position on one end surface side of the stator core. The inter-phase insulating paper is inserted into the guide jig along the stator core central axis line. The guide jig deforms the inter-phase insulating paper to a predetermined shape when the inter-phase insulating paper passes through the inside of the guide jig. The guide jig inserts both side portions of the inter-phase insulating paper simultaneously into different two slots of the stator core along the stator core central axis line.

A rectangular wire is wound on a stator core having a plurality of teeth and a plurality of slots. A plurality of rectangular wire elements is provided by cutting a rectangular wire into a predetermined length and bending into a substantial U-shape. A plurality of rectangular wire pieces configured to form a coil by connecting predetermined end portions of the rectangular wire elements is molded as a sub-assembly. Each of the plurality of the rectangular wire elements is inserted into a predetermined pair of the slots from a first end face of the stator core such that the respective end portions of the rectangular wire elements project from a second end face of the stator core. The rectangular wire pieces of the sub-assembly are fixed to the end portions of the rectangular wire elements, thereby manufacturing a stator coil having compact coil ends easily.

A field-pole magnet manufacturing apparatus manufactures magnet pieces that constitute a field-pole magnet arranged in a rotary electric machine by fracturing the magnet. The cleavage process includes cleaving the magnet material sequentially from the cleavage target region closer to one side edge of the longitudinal direction of the magnet material, wherein a notch is formed in each of the plurality of cleavage target regions of the magnet material such that a depth of the notch closer to the one side edge becomes deeper.

A stator is provided with a tooth, an insulator attached to the tooth, and a coil wound around the insulator. The insulator is provided with a winding barrel around which the coil is wound in a plurality of layers, a flange projecting in a radial direction from one end of the winding barrel, and a notch formed in the flange and through which the line material of the coil is inserted. Projecting lengths of the flange from the winding barrel on the both sides of the notch are set different from each other. When the line material of the coil is guided from the outside of the flange to the winding barrel through the notch for winding the coil on the winding barrel, by supporting and bending the line material at a portion having a longer projecting length of the flange, the line material passes the notch easily.
