A projector apparatus that can effectively reduce bending of a base plate supporting a lens shifting unit thereon and facilitates replacement of unit parts in the event of a failure is provided. The projector apparatus includes: a base plate attached inside a projector body; a lens supporting unit attached to the base plate and supporting a projection lens so as to be movable relative to the base plate; guiding mechanisms for guiding the lens supporting unit so as to be freely movable in a horizontal direction and a normal direction relative to the base plate; and fixing devices which fix the base plate to the projector body. The fixing devices include a plurality of first fixing devices provided at a peripheral edge of the base plate, and second fixing devices provided on an inner side of the plurality of first fixing devices.

The lens shifting device includes: first plate through which video light passes; second plate connected to first plate via elastic member and having projection lens attached to a position into which the video light that passed through first plate enters; slider disposed to project from second plate and housed in first plate to be movable in a predetermined direction; and guide shaft attached to first plate in the state of being engaged with slider and rotated to move the second plate. Elastic member is disposed between first plate and second plate to connect first plate and second plate in the state of generating an elastic contraction force.

A projection display apparatus includes an image forming element, and an imaging optical system made up of a plurality of reflectors for projecting an image formed by the image forming element to provide an enlarged version of the image, wherein at least one of the reflectors which make up the imaging optical system is movable for adjusting the focus, and the movable reflector is movable along a straight line non-parallel with the normal line of the image forming element.

Projection display apparatus

A projector has an image generating device for generating an image, and a housing, having the image generating device disposed therein and having an opening defined therein for emitting therethrough projection light representing the image from the image generating device. A projection mirror is mounted on an outer surface of the housing for reflecting the projection light to project the image onto a projection surface. An optical system is disposed in the opening for applying the projection light to the projection mirror. The projector also has a foreign matter detector for detecting foreign matter which enters a light path of the projection light between the optical system and the projection mirror.
