A method of assembling a butterfly valve that includes a shaft rotatably supported by first and second bearing portions. A first adjusting instrument is used to adjust thrust and radial clearances between the first end of the shaft and the first bearing portion. A second adjusting instrument is used for adjusting thrust and radial clearances between the second end of the shaft and the second bearing portion, and the shaft is arranged at a center of the fluid flow passage.

Method for assembling a valve in a passage in a valve system

An opening end of a concave portion of a bearing holder is crimped to prevent an outer race of a ball bearing from sliding rearwardly, so that a bearing stop cover in the prior art is not needed to stop the slide-out of the outer race. Thus, the number of parts and assembling procedures for an intake air controller are reduced, thereby reducing the manufacturing const thereof. Further, since the bearing stop cover is not needed, the axial length of the bearing holder of a throttle body is shortened, thereby axially compacting the throttle body.

Valve system for intake air controller for internal combustion engine and manufacturing the same

In an intake air control device, a valve gear for driving a shaft of a throttle valve is made of non-magnetic metal that does not interfere with a magnetic circuit constituted by split type permanent magnet and yoke. Accordingly, as the magnetic flux from the magnetic circuit is effectively used without leakage to the valve gear, an opening degree of the throttle valve is accurately detected by a non-contact type Hall element. Further, it is not necessary to reinforce with other metal a ring shaped fixing portion of the valve gear that is rigidly fixed to an end of the shaft by staking or welding and an outer protrusion of the valve gear that comes in hitting contact with a stopper of a throttle body when the throttle valve is fully closed, resulting in less number of component parts and lower cost.

Intake air control device

An angular position detection apparatus, which can improve a detection accuracy of the angular position by improving a linearity of an output characteristic with respect to an angular position detection apparatus, and to downsize an outer size thereof. A permanent magnet is fixed to a side surface of a rotor core, which integrally rotates with a detection target object. An inner surface of a cylindrical portion of the rotor core is closely confronted with an outer surface of a stator core. Thus, the angular position detection apparatus is formed as a radial gap type in which magnetic flux is gone through an air gap G between the cylindrical portion and the stator core along a radial direction. A magnetic flux detection gap portion is formed at a center portion of the stator core so as to go through toward a diametral direction. A Hall IC is arranged in the magnetic flux detection gap portion. The permanent magnet is magnetized so that lines of magnetic force therein are parallel with each other. As a result, it can expand the range, in which the magnetic flux density in the magnetic flux detection gap portion linearly changes in proportion to the angular position of the rotor core, and it can improve the linearity of output characteristic of the Hall IC with respect to the angular position.

Angular position detection apparatus

A rotation-angle-detection device includes a main housing, a resinous cover for covering an opening of the main housing, a permanent magnet disposed at the main housing to be rotatable in response to rotation of a throttle valve, and a magnetic sensor. The cover is longer in longitudinal direction than in lateral direction, and the magnetic sensor is fixed to the resinous cover. The magnetic sensor is disposed so that the detection direction and the longitudinal direction of the cover cross each other at a right angle.

In a resin-made throttle body for controlling air flow rate in an air intake passage, orientation of resinous material of a wall of the throttle body surrounding the valve member has a step portion for controlling orientation of fiber-including resinous material. As a result, the inner periphery of the wall can expand or contract evenly as the valve member expands or contracts.

Throttle body and method of manufacturing the same

A joint structure connected to an air intake passage is composed of a throttle body having a set of a groove and a chamfered surface formed on an outer surface thereof diagonally opposite to each other and a joint member having a flexible arm and a rigid arm. The flexible arm has a ridge in engagement with the groove of the throttle body, and the rigid arm has a sloped surface in engagement with the chamfered surface of the throttle body.
