A controller and a display device are connected to each other by a network. The controller comprises a network control program which controls a network control section to communicate with the display device for each of a plurality of operation modes, including an initialization mode, a normal action mode, and an alarm mode. Various data, such as operation mode information for the controller, are transmitted to the display device connected by the network through the network control section and display data is displayed on the display device.

Display system for controller

A machining load monitoring system to monitor a machining condition by comparing sampled data of a machining load in a trial cutting process and measured data thereof in an actual cutting process with each other precisely with respect to time. An NC command executing unit (1) executes NC commands, and updates a block number and an execution mode in an executed state table (2) when the execution of NC commands of one block is finished. A load monitoring unit (4) compares sampled data, stored in a sampled data table (3), of a machining load in a trial cutting process with measured data thereof in an actual cutting process at given intervals of time. When the block number in the executed state table (2) is updated, sampled data of a new block number are read from the sampled data table (3). The sampled data in the trial cutting process and the measured data in the actual cutting process are compared with each other at predetermined times, and an alarm is issued when the difference between the compared data reaches or exceeds a predetermined level.

Machining load monitoring system

The service life of a cutter is determined with high accuracy by determining a corrective coefficient from a material coefficient determined by a material to be machined by the cutter and a machining condition coefficient determined by machining conditions, multiplying a period of usage of the cutter by said corrective coefficient thereby to correct the period of usage, accumulating corrected periods of usage, and judging the cutter as having ended its service life if the accumulated value exceeds a predetermined reference value.

A method of monitoring machining load on a numerically controlled machine tool in such a way that incorrect judgment due to variations in machining load which are caused according to the machining conditions is made less frequent. The method is started by performing plural trial cutting operations. A signal indicating the machining load during these trial cutting operations is sampled and thus, sampling data is obtained. Reference data about the machining load and its variance are calculated from the sampling data and loaded in a reference data table. A threshold value according to variations in the sampling data is established, using the value of the variance. A load monitor means compares the reference data with data about the machining load obtained from actual measurements whenever each interval of time elapses. A decision is made as to whether the difference exceeds the threshold value. In this way, the machining load is monitored.

Method of monitoring machining load using variable alarm threshold

A symbol definition system for a programmable machine controller (PMC) for defining symbols (signal names) in a sequence program of the PMC. Since the function of the signals between the PMC and a numerical control apparatus is fixed, a first group of symbols is supplied to a program creation unit as system data, and therefore, when a sequence program is created, the first group of symbols need not be defined. Further, the first group of symbols is transferred to the PMC together with the sequence program and used for editing and maintenance.
